💉 10 % der Erwachsene in Europa leiden unter einer chronischen Nierenerkrankung - und es gibt bis jetzt keine heilende Therapie! 🌱 Eine Ausgründung der Universität und der Universitätsmedizin Greifswald will das ändern: Im Jahr 2017 veröffentlichten Prof. Dr. Nicole Endlich und Dr. Florian Siegerist das sogenannte "PEMP-Verfahren", das von der Universität Greifswald international unter anderem in Europa, den USA, Japan und Korea zum Patent angemeldet wurde. "PEMP" steht für "Podocyte Exact Morphology Measurement Procedure". Es ermöglicht mittels 3D-strukturierter Lichtmikroskopie kleinste Veränderungen in der Niere quantitativ und schneller als bisher festzustellen. In der Forschung kann dies maßgeblich zur Entwicklung von Medikamenten gegen Nierenerkrankungen beitragen. Um das Verfahren auf dem Markt zu etablieren, gründete Professorin Endlich zusammen mit ihrem Sohn Tim im September 2019 die "NIPOKA GmbH" als Ausgründung der Universität Greifswald. Die Hochschule unterstützt innovative Ausgründungen ihrer Hochschulerfinderinnen und -erfinder durch die Bereitstellung von Schutzrechten. 🌱 Schon gewusst? Mecklenburg-Vorpommern ist das Land der Gründerinnen. In keinem Bundesland ist der Anteil von weiblichen Start-ups höher. Das zeigt eine Auswertung des Ifo-Institutes zu Handelsregister-Eintragungen aus dem Jahr 2021. In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern wurden 21,3 Prozent aller Start-ups von Frauen gegründet (Die Zeit 11/23). Für Gründerinnen und Gründer ist das an der Universitätsbibliothek Rostock angesiedelte Patent- und Normenzentrum die erste Anlaufstelle für die Beratung rund um Patente, Marken und Co. Seit mehr als 30 Jahren unterstützt das Team alle Interessierten, nicht nur Angehörige und Studierende der Hochschulen, mit Recherchen und Schulungen zu gewerblichen Schutzrechten. Für die Forschung sind sie eine Wissensquelle bei Projekten und für die Unternehmen eine wichtige Hilfe im Wettbewerb. #PatenteFrauen #WomenInIP !B

My Sunday News: What an incredible honor! At the Entrepreneur Ball, which took place under the esteemed patronage of Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig, I had the privilege of receiving the "Entrepreneur of the Year 2023" award with the special designation "Women Power". This recognition is an acknowledgement of my role as CEO of NIPOKA and our tireless effort to translating research into applications for the benefit of kidney patients and my endeavor to establish modern nephrology. I am deeply moved and immensely proud of what my team and I have achieved since founding NIPOKA in 2019! This award is not only a great honor and recognition of our achievement, but also a strong motivation for me to establish the revolutionary PEMP method (Podocyte Exact Morphology Measurement Procedure) as a worldwide used standard procedure in research, drug development and diagnostics with support of my great federal state Mecklenburg Western Pomerania. I would like to express my warmest thanks to the Vorpommern Business Association, in particular its President Gerold Jürgens (recipient of the Federal Cross of Merit 2023) and Managing Director Dr. Rudolph. My Sunday News: I am pleased to announce my invited talk at the upcoming ASN Congress in Philadelphia at November 2nd! I will provide a detailed look at the revolutionizing PEMP method, which is a breakthrough in quantifying podocyte foot processes in the kidney. For the first time, I will also present our latest findings generated in cooperation with Eloxx Pharmaceuticals, Evotec and Prof. Jochen Reiser, M.D., Ph.D. as well as results from my company NIPOKA and the research group at Uniklinikum Greifswald .
