Forschung
Our anode platform technology brings 100% silicon anodes into cell production and future generations of batteries.
Info
Silicon is the most intensively researched material in the semiconductor industry. At NorcSi, we combine this scientific with technological knowledge to develop high performance pure silicon anodes. Our production is based on an interdisciplinary research project launched in 2013 by the Helmholtz Centre Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) and the Technical University of Freiberg (TU Bergakademie Freiberg). Our founders and managing directors have decades of experience in special systems engineering for the photovoltaic and high-tech sector and founded NorcSi 2020 with the aim of introducing the first cyclic stable, cost-effective silicon anodes into the market . The unique synergy between semiconductor scientists and battery researchers has paved the way for us to quickly transfer knowledge gained from materials research into industrial applications.

📢 We are thrilled to share an exciting report by Steffen Höhne from Mitteldeutsche Zeitung. He visited our facilities in Halle and wrote about our progress towards the first industrial-scale production of pure silicon anodes. 🔋📈 Even though new “miracle batteries” are reported frequently, our experience is that batteries are rather continuously improving. This process is occasionally sparked with groundbreaking technological advancements. At NorcSi, we have found a way to replace graphite with silicon in the production of anodes, which offers a huge leap in battery capacity. As our CEO, Udo Reichmann, states, "Through our technology, electric vehicles should be able to achieve a range of 1,200 to 1,800 kilometers per charge." 🔎📰 Read the full article to learn more about how we're leading the race to extend EV range: https://lnkd.in/dxeXHY6N #batterytechnology #emobility #futureisnow

Special note for our German audience 📣 We are thrilled to announce that our CTO Marcel Neubert was interviewed in the latest episode of the leading German battery podcast, Geladen - der Batteriepodcast! ⚡ In this episode, we discuss our innovative approach for the cost-effective production of high performance anodes from 100% silicon. Thank you Patrick von Rosen and & Daniel Messling for the interesting discussion. Listen to the episode now and discover how NorcSi is revolutionizing battery technology! 🔋
🔋 Lithium-Ion, Sodium-Ion or Solid-State? ✔ We have a clear position: All of the above! 💡 While sodium-ion batteries are a cost-effective option, especially for entry-level electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries currently offer the best performance and are therefore ideal for the premium segment of e-mobility. Solid state batteries, on the other hand, offer advantages in terms of stability and are therefore particularly promising for demanding specialty applications. 🚀 Our silicon anode meets the requirements of all development paths: thanks to its cost-efficiency, we can achieve lower prices per kWh than conventional graphite anodes. At the same time, the capacity of the battery can be doubled with our anode, making the lithium-ion battery the performance winner. Compared to the use of lithium-metal anodes in solid-state batteries, silicon offers similar performance with significantly lower reactivity and therefore, unlike lithium-metal anodes, does not compromise the high safety of the battery. ✈🚚🚗 There is no one right way to electric mobility - there are many: They are as diverse as the drivers and the applications - whether private cars, heavy trucks or electric aviation. We offer the optimal anode for all applications. #batterytechnology #solidstatebatteries #lithiumionbatteries #sodiumionbatteries #emobility

💡 We recommend reading Christoph M. Schwarzer's very interesting report on the potential of silicon anodes for e-mobility! 🔋📈 Silicon anodes could greatly improve the battery performance of electric cars. Several major automotive manufacturers have announced new car models with silicon anode batteries for the near future. 🔎⚙ The article also explains our production process which enables the use of 100% Silicon for anodes. It is cost-effective, simple and uses existing processes, which are key factors for a successful evolution to ever better batteries. 📰 Read the full article in English or German here: https://lnkd.in/dEAmP8qK #batterytechnology #emobility #futureisnow #siliconanode

💡 On the molecular level, #silicon is the better choice for high-performance batteries than #graphite. 🔋 In conventional lithium-ion batteries, graphite is used as the anode material. However, silicon can store ten times as many lithium-ions due to its material properties. The use of silicon instead of graphite in electric vehicles is expected to significantly increase the driving range. Silicon is also available worldwide and more affordable than graphite. 🚀 So what are we waiting for? Let's bring about a silicon revolution to e-mobility! #lithiumionbatteries #innovation #emobility
