🌬 Flettner-Fleet meets at NSB ⚡ On October 1 and 2, the #flettnerFleet working group met at the NSBacademy. The participants discussed the possibilities of wind auxiliary propulsion and visited the NSBacademy simulator. The Flettner-Fleet project aims to further develop the Flettner technology in Germany for broad application in national and international shipping and to make a contribution to climate protection in shipping with this auxiliary wind propulsion system. Christoph Heyn, our Deputy Director Newbuilding & Innovation Manager, is also an active member of the working group. #TowardsZero #55 #Emission #Shipping #AlternativePropulsion #Sustainability #NSBGroup #WeLiveShipping

🌊 Conti Makalu's Drydock Update: Sustainable Innovation in Action 🌊 Our vessel CONTI MAKALU is currently at the Yiu Lian Dockyard in Shekou, where we've successfully completed her 5-year class renewal. As part of the process, we applied an advanced silicone-based paint to the underwater hull. This cutting-edge coating offers significant performance advantages, including improved fuel efficiency and long-term durability. 💡 Why silicone paint? Enhanced Performance: The smoother surface minimizes drag, helping the vessel sail more efficiently and reduce fuel consumption. Environmental Benefits: Lower fuel usage directly contributes to fewer emissions, aligning with our commitment to sustainable shipping. Longevity: The silicone paint has a service life of up to 60 months. After this period, a professional inspection and minor touch-ups can extend its lifespan without requiring a complete overhaul. CONTI MAKALU will leave the drydock this week after 42 productive days in the shipyard. Additionally, her sister vessel CONTI ANNAPURNA will enter dry dock a week later to receive the same silicone-based paint upgrade, further enhancing fleet performance. We're excited to see both vessels return to the seas, performing better for both our operations and the environment! ⬆ 🌿 #SustainableShipping #Innovation #MarineEfficiency #FuelSaving #EnvironmentalResponsibility #NSBGroup #WeLiveShipping

🌐 NSB hosted hydrogen round table 🤝 Lately, NSB hosted the regular hydrogen (H2) network meeting. The event is organized by the northern German cities of Stade and Buxtehude as well as the Stade district economic development agency. Representatives of various stakeholders in the region, some medium sized and also some globally acting companies that require hydrogen for their production or trade and path of decarbonization, meet regularly. 💡 The companies share their individual perspectives on hydrogen as an energy source. The purpose of the network meeting is to exchange expertise, but also to initiate specific projects in the region with the participation of the companies based here. 💧 Markus Thewes and Christoph Heyn presented NSB’s projects on H2 and other alternative propulsion concepts in shipping to the group. In addition to its own technical expertise in the newbuilding department, NSB also made its commercial point of view clear: in addition to the design and construction of ships that run on and can carry hydrogen, it is also about the "wet link"-function that NSB can take on as a “carrier” in the energy transport value chain. Thanks to Kerstin Maack and her colleagues from the Wirtschaftsförderung. 😀 #Energytransition #Ammonia #Hydrogene #NSBGroup #WeLiveShipping #Shipping #Decarbonization

👉 Clean up is good. No waste is better. 👈 The plastic footprint of the human being is tremendous. You can find them even in the remotest places of the world. The reasons, why plastic is just thrown into the environment are differing between negligence, lack of recycling system or others. The result is the same: plastic is polluting the planet, only the scale is changing. NSB staff is regularly involved in and organizing clean-up events in different countries, based on local engagement, like in the picture taken on the Philippines. 🗺 With Eyesea, NSB is supporting an organization, that helps to make the global problem even more visible. It encourages individual to open their eyes and report pollution, wherever spotted. And it can paint a bigger picture. This picture has a clear message: Reduce plastic and stop wasting wherever you can! 💪 #Sustainability #Worldcleanupday #NSBGroup #WeLiveShipping #Eyesea

We are ready to lead in this space, prepared to handle and embrace change rather than just react to it. #Innovation #Leadership #CorporateStrategy #Technology #MaritimeIndustry #NSBGroup #WeLiveShipping
