Together for a cleaner tomorrow 🌎♻️ On 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐩 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, which took place on September 20, several of our regional locations participated in efforts to tackle the growing waste challenge. The results? 165kg of waste was collected in the surroundings of our offices in Germany and 17 kg in France, while our colleagues from the Netherlands disposed of some funny and slightly concerning objects, like a nitrous oxide cylinder, that had been found on a carpool close to the office in Den Bosch. 🤔 World Cleanup Day is the world’s largest single-day civic action and global initiative aimed at uniting communities to take action in cleaning up their local environments. Last year, over 20 million volunteers across 190 countries joined forces to collect more than 100,000 tons of waste. Buildings alone account for around 40% of energy consumption in the EU. 🏫⚡️ A new AI- and IoT-based solution enables the members of GovTech Midtjylland, a joint venture of the municipalities of Syddjurs, Aarhus, Denmark, to gain insights into their energy consumption and benchmark against historical data. IoT sensors provide an accurate view of how room bookings are used outside school hours, forming a basis for optimization. Based on the forecasting data, schools can prioritize efforts to maximize energy reductions. With the new EU directive demanding all countries cut energy consumption in public buildings by 1.9% annually, the solution is already proving its worth. Implementing this model nationwide could save all schools 34,966 DKK on average, according to GovTech Midtjylland’s 2023 report “Optimized Building Use" with AI.
