Light-filled preservation An archive doesn't have to be a dark, dusty place: at the Archivo Histórico Provincial de Guadalajara in Spain, a light-filled entrance makes clear that this isn't just a place to preserve important documents, but also a place to enjoy. Central to this achievement is #OKAWOOD, a high-performance insulating glass that filters and diffuses sunlight through an integrated wooden grid. This solution offers optimal daylighting while providing essential protection against glare and overheating, crucial in the hot and dry climate of central Spain. Additionally, OKAWOOD enhances the aesthetic appeal of the building, casting beautiful light patterns throughout the interior, creating a dynamic visual experience that evolves with the movement of the sun. © Javier Azurmendi Perez #okalux #okaluxglastechnik #lightlovesglass #glastroeschgroup #daylighting #daylightarchitecture #sustainablearchitecture #okawood #glassarchitecture #suncontrolglass #spanisharchitecture

Bridging past and present Founded by the Vikings, the Irish town of Drogheda has many remarkable landmarks. In this historic context, an important architectural task is to preserve the old while adding the new. BDP (Building Design Partnership Ltd) Architects have achieved this remarkably well by designing a modern link building that connects two heritage buildings: the Drogheda Civic Offices. For this project, our OKATECH glass with copper inserts was chosen and expertly installed by William Cox. The expanded copper mesh provides effective solar shading while maintaining the aesthetics of the surrounding architecture. With a TSET as low as 13%, #OKATECH ensures optimum energy efficiency, reducing cooling loads in summer and allowing passive heating in winter. © Williaam Cox (Brendan Barrett & Dragos Barliba) #okalux #okaluxglastechnik #lightlovesglass #glastroeschgroup #daylighting #daylightarchitecture #copperarchitecture #BDPArchitects #energyefficientarchitecture

Modern Transformation Under the direction of HEAT Architecture, a former sacred building in London has been transformed into a stylish private residence. The design combines modern understatement with historical charm, incorporating restored furnishings and straightforward elegance. A key feature of this project are the large window areas, which not only offer stunning views of the green garden but also transform daylight into an integral part of the interior experience. #OKAWOOD plays a key role in this harmonious design. Installed as a daylighting system in the roof, it creates a warmly lit space and enhances the diversity of materials. © Leigh Simpson #okalux #okaluxglastechnik #lightlovesglass #glastroeschgroup #daylighting #daylightarchitecture #londonarchitecture #privateresidence #architecturaldesign #solarcontrol

Advanced Daylighting The NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital David H. Koch Center, designed by HOK, Ballinger and Pei Cobb Freed & Partners Cobb Freed & Partners, is a striking example of modern healthcare architecture on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Its welcoming façade reflects an advanced standard in outpatient care, focussing on transparence and warmth. One of the key elements of the building’s design is the use of #OKAWOOD, a daylight solution that integrates a delicate wood screen within triple-glazed insulating glass units. This innovative system provides selective solar control while allowing warm, natural light to fill the interior spaces. The wood screen not only offers functional shading but also enhances the aesthetic value of the façade, with a unique printed pattern on glass that adds a lively look to the building’s exterior. © Gene Lugo #okalux #okaluxglastechnik #lightlovesglass #glastroeschgroup #daylighting #architecturaldesign #tripleglazing #facadeengineering #woodscreen #healthcarearchitecture
