RIFCON-Update on Brazil: Did you know that the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) has been making significant strides in environmental risk assessment for plant protection products?   A recent proposal, developed in collaboration with academic institutions and supported by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice, is tailored to Brazil's unique ecological contexts but build on the ERA approaches by EFSA. The discussion about the new EFSA Guidance Risk Assessment for Birds Mammals continues! The Polish authorities have published meeting notes of the SCoPAFF meeting of 22./23.05.2024 (https://lnkd.in/gAAmKSfU). Part of the agenda was the endorsement of the new guidance document for risk assessment for birds and mammals. Based on the Polish publication nothing has been decided yet, however, it refers to a possible implementation date of June 1st, 2025. The topic has been put back on the agenda for July 2024 (https://lnkd.in/g6jAR64N ) We will stay tuned!

Ever thought about ornamental palm trees as habitat for local fauna? We did! Together with Syngenta, RIFCON conducted a field study in Southern Europe for monitoring the invertebrate and vertebrate fauna occurring on and associated with ornamental palms of the genus Phoenix, over the course of one year.
