The iMONITRAF! network unites the Alpine regions along the major transit corridors to address the pressing challenges of #transalpine traffic. The network has now published its 2024 Annaul Report. 🇫🇮 Helsinki-Uusimaa and Brandenburg to deepen their cooperation on EU level 🇩🇪🇪🇺   The newly formed government coalition of Brandenburg (SPD, BSW) has noticed the partnership between Helsinki Smart Region and the state of Brandenburg in their coalition agreement (link in comments). Thus, it was a pleasure to host representatives of Brandenburg in Brussels 🇧🇪 and discuss possibilities for a deepend cooperation.   Brandenburg and Helsinki Smart Region share many common visions and challenges, to which we want to contribute also on the EU level. We will follow up on at least the following topics: 1️⃣ A common interest to further better transport connections: Both regions look towards Poland, which borders to Brandenburg and is hosting a long stretch of the Rail Baltica -railroad, which connects #Tallinn via #Warsaw to Berlin by 2030. The Baltics are natural cooperation partnets for us. Brandenburg also hosts Scandria®Alliance, of which regional mayor Tuija Telén is the vice-chair. 🚝 🇪🇪🇱🇻🇱🇹 2️⃣ An outlook and performance-based EU that takes into account the needs of regions, while cutting red tape: Europe needs a functioning inner market that encourages entrepreneurship. With its support to the collective open letter, the Scandria Alliance stresses the crucial importance of a dedicated European transport instrument for realising and completing a well-functioning European transport network, which in turn is essential to drive economic growth, job creation and social and regional cohesion. The Alliance of 45 transport organisations has been initiated and co-ordinated by the the ESPO (European Sea Ports Organisation). Other sigantories include other corridor alliances, such as the Interregional Alliance for the Rhine-Alpine Corridor EGTC, STRING, other city and regional networks, such as POLIS network and Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) as well as a number of renowned transport sector organisations, including ALICE, Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration in Europe (ETP LOGISTICS), UIRR or UITP.
