🤩 The SevenVentures Pitch Day was omnipresent on our LinkedIn the last weeks and we are still starstruck by the amazing pitches and the event. But in the meantime, our team was also involved in other projects which we don’t want to leave unmentioned here: Alexander, Daniel and Luca Pauline, for instance, visited the IdeaLab! - WHU Founders' Conference. On the start-up conference, which is entirely organized by students of the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, they had the chance to meet interesting start-ups from different fields. Our team enjoyed networking with the founders and hearing their innovative ideas. One of the highlights was Alexander’s appearance on stage as one of the judges of the final pitch battle of the event. He represented SevenVentures in the jury alongside colleagues from Dieter von Holtzbrinck Ventures, MVP Factory and Good Brands AG. All pitches were impressive and the exchange with the other jury members very insightful. Congratulations again to the winner, Plantsalt®. 🎉 Of course, our team also listened to other panels and speeches on stage and mingled in the crowd. Next to the founders, they enjoyed meeting other event partners and not the least the engaged students. It was great to see that the students are highly motivated and already fully embrace the entrepreneurial spirit. Daniel, Pauline and Alexander not only discussed SevenVentures’ investment approach with them but also options to work with us. We are, for instance, currently looking for new interns joining the team in 2025. Sounds interesting to you too? The link to the vacancy is in the comments below! ⬇️

🌟Breaking Taboos and Empowering Women: Meet Ann-Sophie Claus, Founder and CEO of The Female Company GmbH, finalist at SevenVentures Pitch Day 2024! 🌟 Founded in 2018 and based in Berlin, The Female Company is leading the charge in FemCare innovation. Known for its bold campaigns and natural period products, this startup is redefining how we talk about and experience menstruation. From period underwear to organic tampons, they offer natural, safe products and have gained recognition for their audacious communication and award-winning awareness campaigns. We spoke with Ann-Sophie about the inspiration behind the brand and the challenges they’ve faced along the way: 🌱What inspired you to start your company, and how does your product make a difference in the world? Back in 2017, a US model lost both her legs due to a tampon. We later found out that there are no regulations in the FemCare market—unlike the highly regulated categories like baby care or cosmetics. It made us think, why are there no standards when women use these products inside their bodies for five days a month? Our mission was to start a company that could guarantee the safety of period products. We do this by testing all our products for over 1,000 harmful substances. But beyond safety, we also faced a market built around a massive taboo. At the time, commercials still used blue liquid instead of showing red blood. Women were still hiding tampons in their fists while walking to the bathroom, making sure no one noticed they were on their period. We wanted to turn that upside down. No matter what category we launch—whether it’s motherhood or teens—we aim to change perceptions, take the shame away, and empower women in everything we do with our large community of over 500,000 followers. 💪 What has been your biggest challenge as a start-up, and how did you overcome it? With The Female Company, I went through a lot of ups and downs. One of the most real moments was when my co-founder faced burnout and left the company within weeks. I believe that sharing these kinds of stories more openly can help future generations of (female) founders recognize early symptoms and know whom to reach out to for support. 🚀 Why do you think your start-up deserves to win SevenVentures Pitch Day 2024? FemCare and FemTech remain significantly overlooked and underfunded categories, despite their substantial market size and potential. Recently, search volume for period underwear has, for the first time, surpassed that of regular underwear. This shift highlights the above-average market growth, yet many investors—often men—find it challenging to invest in categories where they have no personal experience or connection. Together with SevenVentures, we aim to break into mass market once and for all. Catch The Female Company and our other inspiring finalists live on stage at SevenVentures Pitch Day on October 15, during the New Com Summit. Streaming free on #Joyn from 17:45 CET! 🌿📺
