🌊 🇩🇪 German-Danish cross-border collaboration for a sustainable Blue Economy! 🌊 🇩🇰 Last week, SOOP | Helmholtz Innovation Platform participated in the German-Danish Maritime Stakeholder Event in #Lübeck, hosted by GATEWAY49. The event brought together key players from both countries to drive innovation in maritime industries. 🚢 At SOOP, we believe that international #collaboration is the key to shaping a sustainable maritime future. Engaging with startups, industry leaders, and research institutions, we explored new opportunities for cross-border partnerships in digitalization, decarbonization, and sustainable port development. 💡 Always great to join forces with our key partners Petra Mahnke from GMT - Gesellschaft für Maritime Technik e.V. and Lennart Popkes from Smartboatia GmbH who are driving innovation in this field with us. The exchange with Danish and German stakeholders reaffirmed our mission: Shaping an Ocean Of Possibilities together! 🌍⚓ A big thank you to GATEWAY49 and Niclas Apitz for organizing this inspiring event! Looking forward to continuing the conversation and fostering impactful collaborations. #BlueEconomy #MaritimeInnovation #CrossBorderCollaboration #SOOP #Sustainability #FutureOfShipping #Smartbotia #GMT

It is very rewarding to work with professional open ocean sailors for collecting important ocean data. Here is a nice article about the data collected by Nicolas Lunven on Holcim PRB during the recent Vendee Globe race. This was supported by #SOOP-shaping an ocean of opportunities project. https://lnkd.in/eMn9Ny6P

Maccaferri Futura will collect key ocean data aboard, testing sensors and citizen science programs to enhance marine research. 🔬 Onboard with Maccaferri Futura scene project we have the best technical crew: SOOP | Helmholtz Innovation Platform equipped with one of Nesa s.r.l sensors will help us to collect physical Ocean data, OCEANO VOX navigation data, Navico Group will assist us every step of data collection onboard, while with Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca we will test methodologies to monitor ocean health through its ‘breath’. Our Ocean of data will then be openly accessible on EMODnet physics, to be at the ultimate service of marine research and conservation.🌊 #MaccaferriFutura #OurNaturalChallenge

We are excited to share the great news about our outstanding partnership with TransEurope Marinas - together we are building an Europe-wide innovative, marina-based measurement network! It’s collaborations like this that mark true milestones for us! ⚓ 🚤 But what exactly are we doing? By leveraging state-of-the-art sensor technology, we enable real-time data on water levels, temperatures, and other environmental parameters—directly available for marina operators and users. This not only enhances marina services but also contributes to sustainability and scientific research. 🔗 This collaboration marks a significant step toward a Europe-wide measurement network and is part of the JPI Oceans Joint Action "European Marinas Network". 💡 Be part of this initiative! Marinas interested in joining this pioneering network are welcome to reach out. Let’s shape the future of marinas together!
Pioneering ocean science technology! ❗🇪🇺 Rethinking Ocean Observation: Why the EU Needs to Modernize Its Regulations 🇪🇺 ❗ We at SOOP see firsthand how outdated regulations slow down ocean observation. With new technologies emerging, it’s time to rethink the legal framework so that research and industry can work together more effectively. Today, Toste Tanhua presented the TRICUSO Policy Brief at the European Commission in Brussels. The key message: Outdated regulations hinder scientific progress and collaboration between research and industry—modernization is urgently needed. Why is reform necessary? 🔹 Lengthy approval processes delay marine research. 🔹 Emerging technologies like autonomous sensors are not adequately addressed in current regulations. 🔹 The lack of EU-wide regulations complicates data sharing and utilization. What solutions does the Policy Brief propose? The report calls for a harmonized EU regulatory framework, more efficient approval processes, and better use of existing platforms like EMODnet. At SOOP – Shaping an Ocean Of Possibilities, we are committed to fostering collaboration between science, industry, and policymakers to create a modern and effective legal framework for ocean observation. 📄 The full Policy Brief is available here: https://lnkd.in/ee__-3An #OceanObservation #MarinePolicy #EU #Research #Innovation #TRICUSO #SOOP
