💜 Last night, we hosted the event for those of you navigating the wild world of CO₂. We had unfiltered insights from the experts, oven-fresh pizza that vanished in record time, and, of course, Aperols on standby (because, priorities). Big thanks to our incredible speakers—Alexander Dyskin, Amélie Losanes, Christian Elsaesser, Heinz Leonard Hornsby, Michael Nau, Richard Thompson III., Susanne Steinmann, and Torsten Kriedt—and our one-of-a-kind moderator, Cori Moore for keeping it real, and to the brilliant crowd who showed up and brought the energy. Buckle up to save the next one in your calendars soon! 🚀

🌍 Current Climate Policies Will Lead to 3.1°C of Warming 🌍 Here’s why—and how we can still change course. Despite global commitments, carbon emissions keep rising. In 2023, emissions hit 57.1 billion tons—up 1.3%, with the G20 responsible for 77% and African Union countries contributing less than 5%. According to UNEP 2024 Report, if current climate policies continue, we’re on track for a 3.1°C rise in global temperatures by 2100—far beyond the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting warming to 1.5°C or even 2°C. 📉 The Urgent Path Forward Updated national emission commitments are due early next year, and to keep within safe warming limits, emissions need to drop by 4–7.5% annually. By 2030, we need a 28–42% reduction, and by 2035, 37–57%. The most impactful actions we can take by 2030 are investing in solar and wind energy (27% of potential reductions) and forest protection (20%). Yet, even with current commitments, we’re only on track for a 10% reduction by 2030—nowhere near enough. 🚗 Transport: A Major Emissions Driver Transport sector emissions hit 8.4 GtCO₂e in 2023. To stay on target, we need a 27% reduction by 2030, which requires big moves in this sector. 🔋 Key Actions Needed - Electrification: Expand EV adoption and charging networks to reduce transport emissions. - Sustainable Fuels: Scale up Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to decarbonize air travel. - Public Transit: Invest in affordable, reliable public transportation to cut urban emissions. 💸 Investment = Action Policies and capital must flow towards tangible emission-reduction strategies. Real climate action demands real investment. Every action counts.
