Be Your Own Barista: Craft Your Perfect Brew ☕ 🌿Last month, we gathered for our first ever hybrid event centered around the topic of Growth. In the same way that a barista works on their skills to cultivate the perfect blend, (we actually had our own barista show us how it’s done- thanks Markus Weilnböck!), we can also be intentional in how we grow professionally and personally. With cups in hand, our teams from Madrid & Berlin came together to explore our growth journeys and gain practical tips on how to kick-start these. 🤼♂️Those in-person participated in a fun and engaging team-building exercise of charades where they had to act out what it looks like to begin your growth journey, face a challenging environment, and reach your goals. 🥇 🧑🏾👩🏼We heard from our very own Tabea Janßen and Olanrewaju Abolarin who shared their personal growth journeys and the north stars that guide them. 🌟Their stories were inspiring and provided practical insights into how we can all navigate and own our career paths. A Look Back at Mental Health Awareness Month at Taxfix 🌟🧠 May was the month of Mental Health and we’re proud to reflect on the insightful discussion and shared experiences. It was a great opportunity to partner up with nilo.health, an organization that offers our employees mental health support and well-being services. Throughout the month we had the opportunity to participate in roundtable discussions on key topics. We learned essential tools for understanding and regulating negative emotions, managing stress, the challenges and importance of setting boundaries, and learning to set limits and having the confidence to say no. ⚖️ A special shoutout to our very own Adina Radke, who led morning yoga and meditation sessions every Thursday on our rooftop space. 🧘♀️🌄These calm and relaxing sessions were the perfect way to start the day, helping us achieve a balanced mind and a peaceful start to our mornings. 😌🌿 At Taxfix, we’re committed to cultivating a supportive environment where the mental well-being of our employees is a priority. ❤️ We’d love to hear from you! Reflecting on an incredible week filled with vibrant events at our office✨ One of the many highlights was partnering up with Netlight, a consultant firm for leaders in the digital industry, for the Code Pub event. 👩🏽💻 The event kicked off with an inspirational speech by Maria Perchyk, who shared her journey of personal growth, battling imposter syndrome, and embracing self-belief. It was inspiring to see young girls from diverse backgrounds gather together to learn more about the complex world of IT and get hands-on experience with various coding workshops. 👩🏻🧕 A huge thank you to Pia Valentin,Diana Taguchi, Nikita Rathi, and the Netlight team for organising this impactful event. 💜 Another highlight of the week was feeling the excitement throughout the office as we brought together all of our tech and product team members to celebrate the R&D achievements. We kicked off the celebration with an R&D All Hands where we looked back at all of the amazing accomplishments of all of our dedicated teams and shared our enthusiasm for what comes ahead for the remainder of the year. We closed the evening with refreshing drinks, tasty snacks, delicious BBQ, and cake to celebrate all of the milestones achieved. 🍔🍰 Thank you to our wonderful leadership and workplace experience teams for making this happen. 🌟 Women’s #PowerMarch: Let’s Recap on the month of March at Taxfix 🌟 In recognition of International Women’s Day- March was full to the brim of inspirational events that championed diversity, inclusion, and allyship in our workplace. Here is our #PowerMarch smorgasbord along with some shoutouts to the amazing women (and men) that made these possible: 👩🏽🤝👨🏼 Allyship Panel Discussion: Fostering Inclusion, Elevating Women, Unconscious Bias & Allyship. A special thanks to Eva Glanzer, Jonas Thaysen, Nele von Lingelsheim-Lenz, and Neil Rooney for being vulnerable to share your stories. A special thank you also to Martin Ott for kicking off our first event with a personal account of his self-reflection of privilege, his allyship journey and the role that strong women have played in his life. 🤖 AI & Gender Bias: Shira Weinberg Harel shared fascinating insights to reflect and learn from around the role that gender bias plays in AI. Thank you to Jessica Aguinaga Hill & Snir Yarom for making this happen. 💚 Giving Back: Spearheaded by Cristina Adrianzen, Taxfixers were entreated to give clothing, goods and financial donations to Hestia House, Berlin: A secure and safe setting that supports women and their children affected by violence.  👩🏻🎤 Navigating the Beginning: Hosted by Thomasin Adams, we heard from Anna Högberg, and Carolin Krüger on navigating the beginnings of their career: Imposter Syndrome, Embracing Mentorships, and Gaining Self Assurance were just some of the topics covered. 😎 Building Your Personal Brand: Claire Davidson guided our teams on owning what makes each of us unique and leveraging these skills to build your personal brand. 💪🏽 Pretty Deadly Workshop: Empowering women shouldn’t stop at the workplace; made possible by (yet again!) Cristina Adrianzen, we welcomed Susanne Kahlich to lead a workshop on practical self defense strategies in real life situations. 🤲 Roundtable on Intersectionality: Nikita Rathi lead a diverse cross-section of Taxfixers in a robust discussion on the nuances of the meaning of true Inclusivity and enablement. As we reflect on this past month, it may already be over, but #PowerMarch must continue. 🌟 More than just words – Taxfix is launching two initiatives to support Women on International Women’s Day🌟 In a world where women face countless disadvantages and injustices still today – from the gender pay and pension gaps to systemic biases in our tax systems – it's clear that achieving gender equality requires more than just nice words; it demands action. At Taxfix, diversity and gender equality are at the heartbeat of our mission, to fix finance for all. Seeing the significant hurdles and injustices Women are still facing every day we want and need to work towards change. That’s why we kicked off an internal initiative called 🏃♀️ Women’s Power March ✨ , which is dedicated to supporting women at Taxfix better and to creating a more inclusive workplace. This includes a series of impactful company-wide workshops, panels and actions on topics like: dismantling unconscious biases, diversity trainings, how to become an ally and a donation drive for a local Women’s charity in Berlin. And this is just the beginning, please stay tuned for more initiatives – we know this needs to be a long term commitment and we are on a journey here. 💡 Call to action for all Women in Germany In Germany, 37% of women have never filed their taxes on their own, compared to 24 % of men. To help change this we’re launching a broad campaign in Germany on International Women's Day, March 8, 2024: On this day we're offering free tax filing through our tax platform (mobile and web app / file taxes on your own) to all Women!
