On the The Retail Marketeers mission to learn & share we brought Musgrave Valora Group Deutsche Tamoil GmbH MCS Marketing und Convenience-Shop System GmbH ORLEN Deutschland GmbH LÜNING Gruppe Lühmann Gruppe and Circle K to The Netherlands. Thank you Mick Houben & Jochem van Iersel & Jeroen Van Wijk for bringing up this idea at the NACS Convenience Summit Europe last year in Dublin. We saw the latest roadside & travel retail formats as well as we got wonderful retail inspirations such as via the Tony's Chocolonely brand experience. Markus Konings enlightened us about the importance of memorable customer experiences at his Sandenburg-DST office and invited us to his unique Vegitalian restaurant. Mick Houben guided us to remarkable foodvenience stores while Jochem van Iersel welcomed us at the Fri-Jado headquarters. He explained the group together with Andrea Martini how good the Fri-Jado & UNOX S.p.A. equipment works together. The reason to believe was delivered right on site during lunch. Dick de Vilder presented the powerful backWERK Nederland new modular formats for petrol stations and Nicolò Manni from Cimbali Group served us tasteful coffee. The farewell dinner channel cruise was the perfect networking platform to reflecting the 24hrs retail experience in The Netherlands. Thank you Fri-Jado UNOX S.p.A. backWERK Nederland and Cimbali Group for making this happen and thank you to all participants - You are an outstanding group of experts and wonderful people. The three international convenience retail heavyweights Alimentation Couche-Tard from Canada, 7-Eleven from the USA and Japan, and FEMSA from Mexico currently believe that petrol stations in Germany can also become the first port of call for coffee to go and food for now & later. Femsa were the first to recognize the growth potential of neighbourhood stores in Germany, which is why they bought the Swiss foodvenience experts Valora Group two years ago. In my view, an ideal foundation for growth in Europe and Germany in particular. Femsa operates almost 23,000 stores in Latin America and Europe and has a total of 392,000 employees. Valora recently presented The Kitchen by avec concept in Zurich to show what the new food & convenience success formula could look like in Germany. The new market players all have something in common: their focus is on the customer and not the vehicle. And they all rely on data. In order to know which type of customer, on which day of the week, at what time of day and with which shopping mission comes on foot, by bike or by car or truck, the convenience retail professionals use the data that is largely already available at the petrol station - “data is the new oil, they are under your store - you have to frack them” says the globally recognized digitization expert in our industry Gray Taylor, Executive Director of Conexxus.org. Conexxus is a non-profit, member-driven technology organization dedicated to the development and implementation of standards, technology innovation and advocacy for the convenience store and retail gas station market and a part of NACS in the USA. https://lnkd.in/eA-26vHT

Sein Know How bringt die gesamte internationale Branche voran. #uandwe #empfehlung #convenience In episode 39 of U&we, we introduce you to Wawa. Wawa's real name is Christian Warning - but nobody calls him that. Wawa is THE expert or management consultant for the convenience retail sector. And specifically in the petrol station/mobility sector. He regularly tours the world to track down new trends in this industry. His expertise helps the entire industry globally to move forward. The fact that petrol stations in Germany still look and offer the same products as they did yesterday is probably Wawa's biggest challenge, not only in 2024 but also in the years to come. Meeting up with him for a sparring session is a real treat, and not just in terms of content: Wawa is a really nice guy with a big heart! #uandwe #recommendation #convenience
