Our brilliant co-founders, Anna E. Lindell and Kiran Raosaheb Patil, have been dedicated to unravelling the complex interactions between PFAS and gut bacteria over the past four years. This hard work and many great collaborations have now culminated in the release of a preprint titled "Extensive PFAS Accumulation by Human Gut Bacteria," now available on BioRxiv. 🧬 This research is the foundation on which Cambiotics was built, driving our mission to detoxify PFAS from the human body through innovative science. 🚨 A New Era in Beauty: The No PFAS in Cosmetics Act of 2023 🚨 Did you know that 99% of Americans have harmful chemicals called PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in their bloodstreams? These "forever chemicals" are in everything – from non-stick cookware and firefighting foam to personal care products like lotions, shampoos, lipstick, and mascara. 🧴💄 The No PFAS in Cosmetics Act (H.R. 6519), introduced by @Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI), Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), and Rep. Annie Kuster (D-NH), aims to stop the intentional addition of 9,000-12,000 #PFAS chemicals from beauty products sold in the U.S. 🌎 💡 Here’s why this matters: 🔹 PFAS chemicals have been linked to serious health problems such as breast cancer, kidney cancer, thyroid disease, and decreased fertility. 🔹 5 states – California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and Minnesota – have already banned PFAS from cosmetics, but a federal ban would protect everyone, no matter where they live! 🔹 Exposure to PFAS is linked to elevated cholesterol, liver disease, and adverse effects on children's development. 🔹 PFAS are everywhere – over 200 products contain these chemicals, and they don’t break down in the environment, making them a long-term threat to our planet and health. ⚠️ The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found PFAS in 99% of people tested, and their presence continues to pollute our drinking water and wildlife. We must act now! 🌊🐾 What will the No PFAS in Cosmetics Act do? 1️⃣ Ban ALL intentionally added PFAS from beauty products (goodbye toxic lipsticks, mascaras, and lotions). 2️⃣ Prevent replacing banned PFAS with equally harmful substitutes. 3️⃣ Stop suppliers from sneaking PFAS into ingredients, packaging, and pigments. 💥 The science is clear: breast cancer, testicular cancer, hormone disruption, and immune system impacts are linked to PFAS exposure. By taking action now, we can significantly reduce these risks for millions of Americans. 💪 With PFAS found in everything from guitar strings to ski wax, it’s time to cleanse our beauty and personal care products from these forever chemicals once and for all. 🛑👊 Let’s create a healthier future, free from PFAS in our everyday products. 💡👩🔬 #NoPFAS #ForeverChemicals #CleanBeauty #SustainableLiving #BeautyIndustryReform #HealthAndWellness #EnvironmentalProtection Source : -

🌍 PFAS Bans Are Coming to the Fashion Industry: What You Need to Know 👗👟 As sustainability continues to reshape the fashion landscape, significant #PFAS regulations are set to impact the industry starting in 2025. 🌱 New York and California are leading the charge with new legislation that will phase out the use of #PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances) in apparel and textiles. These chemicals, known for their durability, stain resistance, and water repellency, have been widely used in products like rain gear, hiking apparel, swimwear, and athletic clothing. 🔹 New York Starting January 1, 2025, apparel with intentionally added PFAS will be banned in New York, with additional restrictions by 2027. Even outdoor apparel for extreme conditions will be regulated by 2028. 🔹 California California's legislation is broader, prohibiting selling, distributing, and manufacturing textile articles containing PFAS by January 1, 2025. Products that don't comply must be labeled "Made with PFAS chemicals." These bans highlight a new era for fashion and textile manufacturers. To ensure compliance, brands must begin reviewing supply chains, reformulating products, and certifying compliance as the countdown to 2025 begins. 📅 What do you think about these new regulations? Is your brand prepared for this shift? Let’s discuss it! From April 2026, PFHxA, its salts and related substances will be restricted in the EU. This is yet another step towards reducing #PFAS pollution in Europe. This subgroup of #PFAS can be found in products such as clothing, home textiles, food packaging, cosmetics, cleaning products and firefighting foams. PFHxA are highly persistent in the environment, and you can be exposed through drinking water and food. Are you using #PFHxA in your products? Play your part in protecting people and the environment. Read the conditions of the restriction in the Official Journal of the European Union. 🔗https://fcld.ly/ojpfhxa Would you like to learn more about PFAS? 🔗https://lnkd.in/dfgkRCD #ChemicalSafetyEU #EU_REACH
Your pizza box, raincoat, and cosmetics might hide harmful substances 🍕🧥💅 It’s surprising, but these everyday items can contain PFHxA – commonly referred to as a "forever chemical." PFHxA is part of a larger group known as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), which poses unacceptable risks to both our health and the environment. These chemicals don’t break down naturally and can seep into our soil and drinking water, leading to long-term contamination. It’s a silent threat that could have lasting effects on our well-being and the planet’s ecosystems. Under the EU REACH Regulation, we're working to restrict PFHxA and related substances in consumer textiles, food packaging, consumer mixtures and cosmetics. The phased transition period will last from 18 months to 5 years to give manufacturers time to adopt safer alternatives.
