Those closest to disasters are better placed to respond to them - they react faster, assess needs better and lead coordination efforts for, and by local communities, which in turn can support improved social cohesion. DCA-NCA Palestine supported 59 community groups in 2024 to be first responders when disaster strikes. Come and listen to what they achieved – and can achieve – when Heba Timawy from MAAN Development Center – DCA-NCA's partner in Palestine – shares her experiences as a panellist in two events at the Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week in Geneva on 26 and 27 March. If you are curious to know more register below to participate in person or virtually: ⭕ Fair and Equitable Partnerships, 26 March, 16:00-17:30: https://lnkd.in/eKDVJ6ZV ⭕ Developing Locally Co-Led Funding Mechanisms, 27 March, 14:00 - 15:30: https://lnkd.in/ekg8-PFT #SCLR #CLI #GCT
Folkekirkens Nødhjælp (DanChurchAid)'s local partner in Palestine - MAAN Development Center will be represented by Heba AlTimawy on two separate local actor panel events during next week's Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week 2025 in Geneva, together with other #Charter4Change and ACT Alliance members and partners. Heba will share her experience implementing a 'Survivor and Community-Led Response (#SCLR)' in Gaza and in the West Bank. SCLR supports and resources individuals and communities responding to humanitarian and protection crises, whether sudden onset or protracted. The approach recognises that local actors are always the first and last responders in any context. It uses microgrants (Group Cash Transfers) to transfer power and resources to existing and emergent organisations and self-help groups that mobilise during crises, allowing for the rapid provision of additional assistance to scale up interventions and increase their impact, across the HDP Nexus. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Join us in person or online next week to hear reflections from a wonderful group of local and national actors - from Bangladesh, Malawi, Nigeria, Palestine, Uganda and Ukraine - to hear how partnership models can ensure greater local leadership, and to learn more about best practice when it comes to locally co-led funding models. We will also be joined by colleagues from NEAR (Network for Empowered Aid Response) and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A big thanks to Oxfam International and #Charter4Change colleagues for bringing this together.
