DCA Kenya participated in this year’s Tobong’uLore, an annual tourism and cultural festival held over four days in Lodwar. Through its Lodwar and Kakuma field offices, DCA hosted a stand to support entrepreneurs from Kakuma, offering them a platform to exhibit their innovative goods and services. A visit from Kenya’s President, H.E. Dr. William Ruto to the DCA stand, was a highlight moment, providing the team with an opportunity to showcase their initiatives and impact to the President. Featured businesses included ventures in black soldier fly farming, cricket farming, and eco-friendly briquette production. Entrepreneurs not only showcased their innovations but also connected with industry leaders, sold products to clients, and engaged with potential prospects.

At Smart Regional Consultants (SRC) Marsabit Business Incubation Center, we recently conducted an impactful entrepreneurship training workshop for youth with limited literacy skills in Songa and Karare. Supported by BOMA.ngo , DanChurchAid Kenya and the IKEA Foundation , this initiative empowers young individuals to develop essential entrepreneurial skills. Participants learned to identify business opportunities and create actionable business plans, all while enhancing their financial literacy. The inspiring stories from successful BOMA.ngo entrepreneurs highlighted the importance of diligent business record-keeping. By equipping these youth with practical tools and ongoing support, we’re not just fostering individual success; we’re cultivating sustainable income-generating opportunities that uplift entire communities. Follow us in this transformative journey—together, we can create lasting change and empower the next generation of leaders

Aguin Dut is one of the three members of the KUIR group, part of the resilient refugee community in Kakuma. Through DCA’s IKEA Foundation Funded Livelihood and inclusion For Transformation in Northern Kenya (LIFT-NK) Project, Aguin and her group received a shade net and seedlings—tools that have enabled them create a livelihood to sustain them and their families. Further, they received training in crop production, to enhance their agricultural skills for long-term self-reliance and creating a steady income stream. With her new vegetable garden, Aguin can now feed her family with nutritious produce and sell surplus at the market, earning a steady income. In addition to covering her family’s needs, she has been able to save Ksh. 2,000 so far! This savings represents security and hope for a better future. Before this intervention, Aguin had no income-generating activities. Today, this project not only provides her with a source of livelihood but also serves as a powerful tool of empowerment, giving her the opportunity to build a stable foundation for her family. Day ten of our impact and learning series from the Danida funded Ajira Poa! (‘cool jobs’) project... In 2021, Timothy joined Ajira Poa! with a background in pharmacy and a passion to help the people of Pserum. Despite limited job opportunities, his dream of opening a clinic never wavered. Through our career guidance program, he chose the entrepreneurship pathway  With our enterprise development training and business incubation, Timothy refined his business plan and confidently pitched it at the Dragons' Den competition. His hard work paid off when he was awarded a KES 52,000 grant to expand his clinic, enabling him to stock more supplies and employ two local youths.  Timothy’s journey is a powerful example of how determination and the right support can transform dreams into reality. We’re glad to be part of his story!  #DanidaFunded #AjiraPoa! #greenjobcreation #empowerment #SuccessStories #enterpreneurship GrowthAfrica Denmark in Kenya COLLEGE OF CAREER GUIDANCE & DEVELOPMENT KENYA Quercus Group ADS-North Rift

Supporting Farmers with Scalable, Green Cooling Solutions Last week, a team from DCA HQ visited Nakuru and Nyandarua counties to monitor the progress of the L2V project-funded under the Danida Green Business Partnerships / Danida Market Development Partnerships- which focuses on reducing food loss through scalable green cooling technologies.  On the 30th of September and 1st of October, the team visited Kiambariki and Ufanisi farmer groups to assess the impact of newly installed cooling units. These units are designed to cut down food loss and waste (FLW) while improving the incomes of smallholder farmers by preserving the quality of their produce.  The visit provided valuable insights into how these green cold storage solutions can be optimized for last-mile farmers. The goal is to scale this proof of concept across the region, strengthening farmer organizations and ensuring long-term food security and economic growth.  #SustainableAgriculture #FoodSecurity #SmallholderFarmers #GreenTechnology #FoodLossPrevention #ColdStorageSolutions #ClimateSmartAgriculture #Innovation #SustainableDevelopment #SustainableFarming InspiraFarms Cooling Fresh Produce Exporters Association of Kenya Danfoss FSD Kenya

At DCA, we’re dedicated to building resilient communities by empowering individuals to secure their right to food and create diversified income opportunities. Through the sustainable use of land, water, and natural resources, we help people transform their lives. Meet Ngikio Longor from the Turkana community in Kakuma. Thanks to the Danida-funded HUM project, DCA provided Ngikio with training in poultry farming and was provided with 30 chicks and materials to build a poultry house. Now, she’s a thriving poultry farmer, selling chickens and eggs at the local market. With the profits, Ngikio has expanded her poultry stock and even set up a kiosk selling daily essentials to her neighbors. Through her hard work and determination, Ngikio is able to meet her family’s basic needs and send her children to school—paving the way for a brighter future. Her journey is a powerful example of resilience, entrepreneurship, and the impact of community support. #Empowerment #Resilience #SustainableLiving #DCA #Turkana #Entrepreneurship #CommunityStrength #ClimateSmartTechnologes #Danidafunded
