WE BRING DISCOVERIES TO LIVES by investing actively in business and science at the frontiers of their fields.

Om os

We are an active enterprise foundation. Hans Lundbeck founded the company H. Lundbeck in 1915. In 1954, his widow, Grete Lundbeck, established the Lundbeck Foundation and transferred her shares in H. Lundbeck to the Foundation as the couple had no heirs. Today the Lundbeck Foundation is driven by our dedication to neuroscience. We work to bring discoveries to lives. People and patients lies at the heart of what we do. We unleash the potential of exceptional ideas and talented researchers by supporting the commercial journey from labs to lives, from start-up to exit – or to inclusion in the Lundbeck Foundation portfolio of long-term ownerships within healthcare.

  • KULTURNATTEN 2024: Why is it so hard to resist temptation? 🧠✨ Why do we struggle to put our phones away, turn down a slice of cake, or avoid buying a lottery ticket? What exactly happens in the brain when we crave something we know we should resist? Join us for an insightful evening with Professor Ulrik Gether, as he unravels the science behind addiction and reveals how dopamine – the brain's "reward chemical" – is released when we think about our desires, triggering a powerful urge that can be almost impossible to ignore. Gain a deeper understanding of how the brain’s reward system operates and why it can lead to compulsive behavior. Discover the role of neurotransmitters, how substances like cocaine and amphetamines impact the brain, and the genetic factors that make us respond differently to these stimuli. 📍 Location: Jerne Auditorium, Panum Institute 🕒 Time: Two sessions: 19:00 and 20:30 🎤 Moderator: Journalist Louise Wolff 👀 https://lnkd.in/dh5QCdyx This is an opportunity to learn how our brains work on a chemical level and why some people are more vulnerable to addiction than others. Leave with practical strategies and a scientific perspective on how to regain control over everyday temptations. • Note that this event will be in Danish •

  • New Exciting Exhibition Coming to Experimentarium! Have you ever wondered what it would be like to experience your body from the inside? In 2026, you’ll have the chance to shrink to microscopic size and race through blood vessels, bounce around the alveoli in the lungs, and take a ride through the immune system when Experimentarium unveils its new, spectacular exhibition on the human body! The project is supported by DKK 30 million from the LEO Foundation, Novo Nordisk Foundation, Ole Kirk’s Foundation, and Lundbeck Foundation – and will showcase how the body works and how our behaviour influences it. “Super-body ('Super-krop') offers a unique opportunity to experience how the body’s systems work together and how the brain plays a central role in controlling both body and behaviour,” says Senior Scientific Programme Manager, Anette Høye from the Lundbeck Foundation. • We are excited to spotlight professor Thomas Graven-Nielsen from Aalborg Universitet, who has just been awarded a Lundbeck Foundation Professorship grant of DKK 40 million to push the boundaries of chronic pain research. Chronic pain affects 1 in 5 adults and remains a major challenge to treat effectively. Professor Graven-Nielsen’s work focuses on understanding how the brain reacts to pain and whether these changes can help predict who might develop long-term pain. The aim? To use these insights to create new, personalized treatments through non-invasive methods like brain stimulation, ultimately offering better relief for those suffering from pain. In total, three top brain researchers have been awarded the Lundbeck Foundation Professorship — two from the Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen and one from Aalborg University — for their innovative projects:https://lnkd.in/dtkVSB9E 📸 Photos: Lars Horn / Baghuset
