🎨 We often think of #creativity as a personal skill—something that comes from within. But what if creativity is actually fueled by #empathy? 💡 This Greater Good Science Center article explores how stepping into another person’s #perspective can spark new ideas, break down barriers, and help us imagine #solutions we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. 🌎 #Culture and #creativity are powerful tools for change, and #empathy is at the heart of both. Some of the most impactful artistic movements, sustainability solutions, and community-driven initiatives have emerged when people truly understand and connect with the experiences of others. 💙 Empathy expands our thinking—it allows us to challenge biases, reframe problems, and design solutions that are more inclusive and meaningful. As we navigate #globalchallenges, how can we use empathy to create a stronger sense of agency to act? 💭 How has empathy helped you think differently, create, or solve a problem? We would love to hear your thoughts, let’s discuss! #ThoughtfulThursday #EmpathyInAction #CultureForChange #UNLive

Introducing #ThoughtfulThursdays 💭 Empathy is the foundation of resilience in a world filled with fast-moving changes and challenges. When we take the time to understand different perspectives, listen to unheard voices, and connect through shared experiences, we build stronger, more compassionate communities. Today we’re initiating #ThoughtfulThursdays— a weekly space for reflection and inspiring ideas to encourage meaningful conversations and a sense of connection and belonging. A recent Wall Street Journal piece explores how “resilience” is replacing ESG as the new language of sustainability. But true resilience isn’t just about adapting—it’s about how we care for one another, uplift communities, and use culture to drive change. From indigenous traditions that honor the land to artistic movements that inspire action, empathy is at the heart of how we create a more sustainable world together. As we head toward the weekend, we invite you to take a moment to reflect: How does empathy shape resilience in your life? Let’s start a conversation—share your thoughts below. #ThoughtfulThursdays #EmpathyInAction #Resilience #CultureForChange #Inspiration #UNLive

🤔 When #culture meets conservation: how #BadBunny and the Puerto Rican coquí inspire #climateaction. 🌍🎶 From stadium anthems to the forests of #PuertoRico, the iconic coquí frog—deeply embedded in the island’s identity—now faces threats from climate change and habitat loss. But artists like Bad Bunny are using their platforms to amplify the voices of their #people and their #environment. 🎉 This is a powerful reminder that storytelling and culture play a crucial role in driving climate action. #Music, #art, and #community narratives help connect people emotionally to the causes that matter, making environmental advocacy more accessible and urgent. 💡 How can we harness cultural influence to inspire positive action for our planet? 💚 Let’s continue bridging the gap between entertainment, heritage, and sustainability. #ClimateAction #CulturalImpact #StorytellingForChange #Sustainability

How do we stay hopeful in the face of climate catastrophe? Sociologist Dana R. Fisher calls it apocalyptic optimism—recognizing the crisis but refusing to give in to despair. In her TED Talk, she highlights how grassroots movements, activism, and collective action can drive real change. The future isn’t set in stone—it’s shaped by the choices we make today. We believe optimism isn’t passive. It’s not about hoping for the best. It’s about agency. It’s about people coming together, demanding better, and taking action to shift the course of what’s possible. The science is clear. The urgency is real. And yet, across the world, communities are already leading the way—innovating, organizing, and proving that solutions exist. We’ve seen it firsthand. From young activists mobilizing in the streets to local communities restoring ecosystems, action is happening everywhere. But it needs to scale. It needs support. And it needs all of us. “Because so much more is possible, when we already know one another.” - Dana R. Fisher How do you channel your hope into action? What role do you play in shaping the future? Let’s talk. Let’s act. The moment is now. Watch the full talk 👇 #ClimateAction #ApocalypticOptimism #UNLive

What does justice feel like, sound like? Social justice isn’t a single story. It’s millions of voices calling for fairness, dignity, and equal opportunity. Through #GlobalWe, artists have explored what social justice means to them and how hip hop has played a role in shaping their perspective. “The realities are different, but we share the same dreams.” From Johannesburg to São Vicente, from local initiatives to global movements, people are challenging systems that exclude, finding solutions that uplift, and making their voices heard. Today is a reminder: Justice isn’t given—it’s built. And it starts with all of us. #WorldDayofSocialJustice #HipHop #Music

We’re thrilled to highlight this incredible report by one of our close partners, Jameel Arts & Health Lab, and their commitment to improving health and wellbeing through the power of the arts.🎨 Their initiatives have shown just how transformative the arts can be in addressing urgent health issues like loneliness, dementia, and youth mental health. One of the most powerful approaches they champion is social prescribing, which is making a real difference in cities like Montreal and Brussels. By prescribing cultural activities such as museum visits alongside traditional medical treatments, these initiatives are proving that engaging with culture can significantly improve mental health and reduce the risk of conditions like dementia and depression. The message is clear: Investing in culture is investing in health. We are proud to be part of this inspiring movement and to support Jameel’s groundbreaking work. Learn more about these impactful initiatives in the full report here: https://lnkd.in/dMdxhRpg A special thanks to the Jameel Arts & Health Lab, founded in 2023 by World Health Organization, New York University, Community Jameel and CULTURUNNERS, for leading the way in this vital work.✨ #artsandculture #health #impactreport

While not as dominant as in previous years, solving global challenges remained a key theme at last week’s World Economic Forum annual meeting in #Davos, where world and business leaders gathered once again. The global crises we face—planetary collapse, rising authoritarianism, deepening inequality—were on the agenda across thousands of sessions. One message was clear: addressing these challenges demands more, not less, collaboration—across borders, sectors, and generations—along with trust and fresh thinking. Arts and culture is an integral part of that fresh thinking, as it offers an infrastructure for change, forging new alliances, shared narratives, and immersive experiences that bridge divides. UN Live was at #WEF2025 to champion the role of popular culture in driving large-scale, sustainable change. It was encouraging to see the power of arts, culture, and creativity—along with the urgent need to invest in them—highlighted at Inkwell Beach (Cannes Can: Diversity Collective), CNBC, Hub Culture, The Art of Business Forum, the Imagination in Action Summit, and we were glad to join the conversation. Sounds of birds and the Amazon rainforest could be felt inside, as NATURE the artist’s ecosystem soundscapes was weaved into several official World Economic Forum sessions, contributing to the innovative finance mechanism of UN Live’s #SoundsRight initiative, with royalties flowing back to nature. Read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/e98tvRXe The week was packed with events, planned and impromptu meetings, and energizing conversations, including with Joseph Fowler, Valiant Richey, Myriam Sidibé [She/Her], Mark Henderson, Adrianne C. Smith, Chavalit Frederick Tsao, Marie-Claire Daveu, Henk Rogers, Sebastian Munden, Seth Schachner, Larry Adams, Petra Becker, Dr Anino Emuwa, Henrik Szabo, Nicole Loftus, Paul Polman, Iris Maria Alexis Van der Veken, Eva Kruse, J. Carl Ganter 💧, Hareesh Nair, Sanda Ojiambo, Julien Pellaux, Ann Rosenberg Natalia Vega-Tracy (Vega-Berry) Stefan Schoepfel John Werner Stan Stalnaker Katherine "Kat" Randel and many others. As always we are ready to join forces and take ideas into action. The need is greater than ever. #davos2025

At Museum for the United Nations – UN Live, we believe culture can move people to act. In this episode of Design Kan, our CEO Katja Iversen joins Isabella Alonso de Vera Hindkjær to explore how storytelling, media, and bold ideas—like giving Nature copyright—can drive climate action. 🌱
🔗 Link i kommentarfeltet
