Our Rasmussen Global team continues to gather key political, industry, and policy voices to explore Europe’s most pressing defence challenges. 🔹Last week, we co-hosted a high-level roundtable on Securing Strategic Ammunition Stockpiles for Europe’s Defence with Dokka Fasteners and Würth Group. Attendees included: MEP Niels Flemming Hansen, MEP Riho Terras, and MEP Nicolás Pascual de la Parte, alongside senior representatives from EU institutions and industry leaders. 🔹The discussion delved into the challenges of ensuring sufficient ammunition production, supply chain resilience, the role of SMEs, and the legislative steps needed to overcome fragmentation and improve coordination between member states. Industry participants underscored the importance of securing long-term guarantees for demand and discussed solutions to address gaps in Europe’s defence capabilities. The discussion also focused on Europe's historic lack of defence investment, and how it can catch up. To learn more about how Rasmussen Global is helping shape Europe's defence agenda, please reach out to Phillip Kjær Luscombe, Senior Project Manager at Rasmussen Global.

Rasmussen Global, alongside MEP Hildegard Bentele and Albemarle Corporation, co-hosted a high-level roundtable on the future of the EU’s battery value chain. The event brought together representatives from along the battery value chain, including BASF, BMW Group, and key stakeholders from the European Commission, European Parliament, EU partner countries and industry associations. 🟩 The conversation emphasized the importance of the Critical Raw Materials Act and the need for financing mechanisms to support sustainable CRM production in Europe, despite potential higher costs. 🟩 Participants also noted challenges in achieving recycling and processing targets and highlighted the importance of supply chain reliability, strategic partnerships, and coherent legislation to drive competitiveness. 🟩 The conclusion was clear: Europe must accelerate efforts to create a resilient and sustainable CRM supply chain while ensuring market demand and strategic autonomy. If you would like to hear more about Rasmussen Global’s work with Critical Raw Materials you can reach out to Helene Bille Albrechtsen, Director for Energy and Resources at hba@rasmussenglobal.com

Rasmussen Global genopslog dette
Founding Chairman at Rasmussen Global political consultancy -- Founder of the Alliance of Democracies Foundation
On 30 September 2014, I ended my mandate as Secretary General of NATO. The next day, I founded Rasmussen Global. As Prime Minister and then Secretary General, I had been at the head of organizations with tens of thousands of employees. On my first day at Rasmussen Global, it was suddenly just me, calling the phone company to get a new business line installed. We have come a long way since then. Although we still aren’t quite the size of NATO or the Danish government, Rasmussen Global now counts more than 35 people across seven European countries. I am proud of how we have grown but growth has never been an aim in itself. What matters to me is the values the company stands for and the results we deliver. We have always been a firm with a purpose – to help democratic governments and multinational companies work on projects that strengthen our free societies. That can be working with companies powering the green transition, helping us remove our dependence on Russian oil and gas. With tech companies looking to design rules for artificial intelligence that enhance our freedoms rather than undermine them. With democratic governments wanting to strengthen their relations with the European Union. Or our pro-bono work with the Ukrainian government – to do anything we can to help them win this war and achieve a lasting peace. This month, we celebrated our 10-year anniversary by inaugurating our new office in Copenhagen and with a team retreat in Italy. It was a way of saying thanks to all those who have helped build Rasmussen Global over the last 10-years. Now we are back to work, delivering results for clients, and doing what we can to build a stronger democratic world.

"While Trump has implausibly promised to end the war in one day, Harris could start defining her own, more realistic strategic bargain — a plan that should demonstrate Ukraine and its European allies can assure the bulk of the forces needed to defend Ukraine, with the U.S. providing a smaller but still indispensable share. She could state that if Europe steps up and develops a credible defense investment and readiness plan for the next five years to defend Ukraine, the U.S. will support extending an invitation for Ukraine to join NATO." Rasmussen Global CEO Fabrice Pothier outlines in POLITICO Europe what a new Harris doctrine for Ukraine could entail.
In the first half of 2024, U.S. policy on Ukraine was increasingly dictated from former U.S. President Donald Trump’s camp in Mar-o-Lago — not Washington itself. It was Trump who hijacked and delayed a vote in the U.S. Congress to pass supplemental aid for Ukraine. And now, it’s Trump and his advisors who are again steering the conversation on how and when the war should end. By seeking to keep the issue of Ukraine off the campaign trail, Biden’s campaign team allowed Trump to frame the narrative around any future peace agreement. With Vice President Harris’s nomination now assured, the Democrats must reassert their control over America’s Ukraine policy — one that, if it is to succeed, must make clear that this war will only be brought to a favorable end through strength.
