🚨 Breaking News: The EU Just Took a Major Step to Reduce Food Waste—But We Must Aim Higher! The EU has adopted the first-ever legally binding food waste reduction targets for EU countries to meet—10% in manufacturing & processing, and 30% in retail, food services, and households, both by 2030. This is a historic milestone, but the targets also fall short of the UN SDG 12.3 commitment to halve food waste by 2030. But Luc had a secret weapon: pastries. He booked a Surprise Bag from her favourite bakery loaded with her go-to treats, and sent her the link with a simple message: “This is for you.” Over flaky pastries, the tension melted. Crisis averted, relationship saved.   🌮 Every Friday, a user treats herself with food from her favourite taco place—a small ritual of self-love after a long week. It’s her moment to unwind, indulge, and celebrate herself. This Valentine’s Day, love isn’t just about others—it’s about cherishing the little joys that make us feel good. 🫶 Two friends started using the Too Good To Go app at the same time. Together, they would pick up their Surprise Bags, discovering new dishes and sharing their finds. These moments quickly became a highlight of their week. Over time, they grew closer, and today, they’re happily sharing both their lives and their Surprise Bags. Food, savings, and maybe even a little fate. Food loss and waste is one of the biggest inefficiencies in our global food system—yet it’s a challenge we can solve together. 🌍 We fully support the conclusions of the new OECD - OCDE report on how countries can achieve food loss and waste (FLW) reduction by implementing ambitious policy solutions. At Too Good To Go, we’ve consistently urged governments to: 1️⃣ Pursue ambitious binding FLW reduction targets. 2️⃣ Require public reporting of FLW data. 3️⃣ Integrate baselines and targets for FLW reduction into their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement. Reducing food waste is the number one action to tackle climate change and limit global warming to 2°C by 2100 (Project Drawdown, 2020).
