🚨 The Current Food System is Endangering Our Health 🚨 A groundbreaking study from the University of Cambridge, involving data from 2 million people in 20 countries, has revealed alarming findings: eating just 50g of processed meat daily—like two slices of ham—can increase your risk of type 2 diabetes by 15%. Even 100g of unprocessed red meat can elevate the risk by 10%. Experts strongly advise cutting back on red and processed meats to lower these risks and better align with current healthy eating guidelines. How much more evidence do we need before we take action? Here are some impactful ideas: 🔄 Redirect Subsidies: Stop supporting products that harm our health and the environment. Redirect those funds to make healthy, sustainable foods accessible and affordable for everyone. 💰 Implement Taxes: Just like sugar taxes have successfully reduced sugar consumption, a similar tax on red and processed meats could help reduce excessive intake and promote healthier choices. ⚠️ Health Warnings on Packaging: Similar to the warnings on cigarette packs, meat and processed food packaging should clearly communicate the health risks, empowering consumers to make informed decisions. [Impact Report 2023 is LIVE 📢] ✌️ We Achieved 83% Lower Carbon Footprint Compared to Traditional Meat Products, Reducing Carbon Footprint by 23% from 2021 to 2023 🌍 🌱 We reaffirm our commitment to a sustainable and positively impactful food system. Between 2021 and 2023, we have managed to reduce our environmental footprint per kilogram of product by 23% across its entire range. 💦 In 2023, we have saved CO2 emissions equivalent to 3,000,000 round trips between Madrid and Barcelona and conserved an amount of water equivalent to 6,699 Olympic-sized swimming pools. ♻️ With the B Corp recertification process underway, we aim to become the highest-scoring plant-based company in the world (or even further). This goal, along with the adherence to the United Nations Global Compact and its commitment to Science Based Targets (SBTi), assures a rigorous measurement of our decarbonization plan. 📦 In one week we will launch our new 4.0 packaging, which will reduce the material usage by 30% and cut CO2 emissions from transport and materials by 31.5%, significantly improving all previous versions.
