PREPSOIL - Preparing for the "Soil Deal for Europe" Mission
Organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro
Facilitating the deployment of the Soil Deal across Europe
Sobre nosotros
PREPSOIL facilitates the deployment of "Soil Deal for Europe" mission across European regions, by helping key-players beyond agriculture field in reducing soil degradation, while increasing soil awareness and soil literacy. PREPSOIL mission on healthy soils is focused in three key impact pathways: - Improve the knowledge-base and access to critical information for land managers on soil health; - Establish an overview of soil needs and status regarding monitoring Living Labs and Light Houses; - Increase soil literacy and awareness to citizens and society at large, through education, dissemination and access to information. Soil awareness and soil literacy is going to be a hot topic in the next decade. With an estimation of between 60 and 70% of unhealthy soils in European Union, PREPSOIL will increase networking and knowledge exchange between communities across Europe at regional/local level on soil health taking into account various type of land uses and based on the work undertaken in existing and new Living Labs and Light Houses. That's why PREPSOIL is going to reach out to a wider audience: from universities to citizen scientists; from school students and teachers to soil monitoring agencies; up to society at large! - PREPSOIL “Preparing for the ‘Soil Deal for Europe’ Mission” is a Coordination and Support Action funded by the European Commission Horizon Europe programme (HORIZON-MISS-2021-SOIL-01). Coordinated by Aarhus University, PREPSOIL is supported by 18 other partners, including the EC Joint Research Centre, representing 12 EU Member States and Associated Countries.

🌱 Soil health is crucial for a thriving ecosystem and sustainability in agriculture and the European food supply. 💡 Within this context, the Soil Mission aims to develop a comprehensive, harmonized soil monitoring framework. A critical component of this mission is integrating existing monitoring programs and improving methodologies, an effort that spans across Europe. 🌿 To tackle this issue, one of PREPSOIL goals is to bridge this gap by extending the findings from agricultural soil projects to other types of soils. 📃 Want to know more about how PREPSOIL is dealing with soil monitoring?
