#muonMonday: Exploring the world of #muons! Did you know that muons, discovered in 1936 by Carl D. Anderson and Seth Neddermeyer while studying cosmic rays, are elementary particles similar to electrons but with a much greater mass? 💫 With their increased mass, muons can delve deeper into matter compared to electrons. This unique property makes them indispensable in various fields, including muon tomography for imaging large structures. 🌐 The unparalleled penetration levels and harmless nature of muons render them more efficient than traditional NDT technologies like X-Ray and GPR. 🛠️ #MuonMonday #Physics #ScienceFacts

The Construction Startup Competition is hosted by top venture capital and construction companies to identify the top startups “revolutionizing the construction industry”: Cemex Ventures, Caterpillar Inc., Dysruptek by Haskell, Ferrovial, Hilti Group, Leonard by VINCI, NOVA by Saint-Gobain, Trimble Inc. and Zacua Ventures. GScan has been named as one of the eight #winners, winning the Future of Construction/Disruption category, and is the only startup from Estonia & UK (in total there were 500 startups from 70+ countries)! Knowing that the combined annual revenue of the jury companies is $220bn (5x of Estonian GDP) motivates us to strive even harder on our mission to extend the lifespan of the built world, safely. Congratulations to our fellow nominees Raise Robotics [US], revitalyze [Austria], Sodex Innovations GmbH [Austria], Trunk Tools [US], KayaAI [US], Kraaft [France], and MIXTERESTING [Austria]. Looking forward to being together on the main stage at the Trimble Dimensions User Conference in Las Vegas! 🏗 🏭 🛣 GScan helps to extend the built world life span, safely. We use cosmic rays (muons) to look inside any critical #infrastructure. This is the only tech that can penetrate concrete or steel beyond 40cm and identify internal chemical composition, which allows infrastructure owners to make fact-based decision of their assets (#bridges, #tunnels, #nuclear and #Oil & #Gas assets).

The Carola Bridge collapse in Dresden underscores the urgent need for advanced infrastructure monitoring and maintenance. 💥 When faced with such a catastrophic event, bridge owners face a dilemma: demolish and rebuild, or renovate and replace? While the former is costly and time-consuming, the latter requires a deep understanding of the status of bridge's internal structure. 🏗 GScan's #muonFLUX muon tomography technology offers a solution. As the only technology capable of 3D imaging and assessing metres deep, dense materials, it provides invaluable insights into post-tensioned cables, rebars, and other critical components. 🔬 Last year, we successfully completed our first bridge-related field project in the UK, collaborating with National Highways, AtkinsRealis, and Jacobs. We're excited to continue this momentum and announce more projects soon. 🚀 Hope that our tech can also help to rebuild Carola Bridge in Dresdern! 🏗 #DresdenBridge #DresdenBridgeCollapse #Carolabrücke #nonDestructiveTesting #muonTomography
