🌍 Thank You, Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe 2024! To everyone who stopped by our booth at the Expo, we truly appreciate the enthusiasm and curiosity you brought! Here’s a look at some key trends our team noted from this year’s event: 🔹 Hydrogen Innovations - This year’s Expo showcased hydrogen technology across every sector— from electrolyser systems to component providers. 🔹 Full House - Our booth was buzzing with visitors eager to know more about our products and get insights from our experts. We hope you had the opportunity to talk to one of us. 🔹Hydrogen Infrastructure - We saw a noticeable push towards infrastructure advancements, from storage systems to refuelling stations, showing some progress for hydrogen’s role in the energy landscape. Yet, not at the pace we would like to see here in Europe. 🔹 Cost Reduction - A unified message towards reducing the cost of equipment and lowering the Levelised Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH). 🔹 Global competition - International players, especially from Asia, made a strong presence, with many exhibitors keen to overshadow local players in Europe. We expect to see increasing competition across borders. 🔹 Supplier Ecosystem - We also noted the surge of component providers competing to supply the increasing number of OEMs entering the green hydrogen space. 🔹 Exciting times - Overall we see exciting times ahead as we work together to enable the industries of tomorrow. 👥 Thanks to all Stargate team members involved: @Victor Nikitin, Aniket Choudhari, Fernando S. Stargate Hydrogen is coordinating the EU-funded project EXSOTHyC and this week the partners gathered in Scotland, St Andrews to discuss the progress made during the first 10 months of the project. “Our cell testing team has already tested several novel diaphragms with improved gas-crossover developed in other work package in industrially relevant conditions. I am really excited for what’s ahead as we continue to test the best electrodes and diaphragms developed in other work packages of the project” commented Martin Maide. The project brings together great minds from Estonia, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany to tackle green hydrogen production costs via material innovation. EXSOTHyC is funded by the European Union and the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, and we look forward to continuing our work until the project concludes in 2026. #EXSOTHyC #CleanHydrogen #Collaboration #Sustainability
It has been 10 months since the launch of the EXSOTHyC project! 👏 This week, our consortium met in St Andrews, Scotland, for the first General Assembly to review the project's progress. The meeting was very productive, with participants engaging in valuable discussions and highlighting key achievements, including the recent publication of our first article "Catalyst-Coated Diaphragms for Enhanced Alkaline Water Electrolysis." We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the University of St Andrews for graciously hosting us. As one of the world’s leading experts on exsolution—where the "EXSO" in "EXSOTHyC" originates—their facilities provided an ideal environment for productive discussions. We also appreciated the opportunity to tour the chemistry labs and enjoy the unique charm of the city. EXSOTHyC is coordinated by Stargate Hydrogen, with partners including the University of St Andrews, Agfa, Eindhoven University of Technology, and the Fraunhofer IFAM. Our collaboration involves researchers and engineers from Estonia, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. The project aims to optimize electrolyser operations for lower voltages and higher efficiencies through three key innovations: 🔵 New approaches for O2 and H2 evolution reactions using advanced anode and cathode designs. 🔵Enhanced membrane electrode assemblies with integrated components. 🔵Improved cell designs to increase overall efficiency. 🌍Last week we had the pleasure of hosting our strategic partner, Fortum, at Stargate Hydrogen for a complete tour of our facilities! Their visit began at the Väo site, home to the first MW-scale full value chain of green hydrogen in the Baltics. And this was just the start... From there, we headed to the assembly facility, where Fortum had the chance to see more projects in action—many of which will soon look quite similar to their own hydrogen production site at Loviisa, Finland.
