We are very excited to be part of this #SESAR3JU ER project which aligns very well with our commitment to marry the most #innovative research with the #environment. We are also happy to once again collaborate with our colleagues from the preceding project, FlyATM4E. Their expertise and leadership in shaping the future of sustainable aviation are invaluable!
F4EClim kicks off! 🛫 A SESAR Joint Undertaking's Exploratory Research project, which will lead to an exciting journey in developing climate-compatible flight trajectories using #weather data. The project had its Kick-off Meeting last week at the #uc3m headquarters in Madrid, bringing together a brilliant team of partners: Delft University of Technology, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and the DLR-Institut für Luftverkehr, which leads the initiative. Together, we aim to reduce the climate impact of #aviation by addressing both CO₂ emissions and non-CO₂ effects, such as contrails and nitrogen oxides. To achieve this, the project will focus on improving Algorithmic Climate Change Functions (aCCFs) by integrating meteorological and seasonal patterns, and precise #climate metrics. These advances will provide the basis for the creation of a web-based climate service for the aviation community. 🖥️ In addition, the project will explore ways to reduce the climate impact of aviation by developing robust flight planning algorithms. These algorithms will identify eco-efficient aircraft trajectories, assessing the potential reduction in climate impact and associated costs. We are ready to embark on this flight towards #GreenAviation. 🛩️🍃 Follow us to stay up to date on the progress of our work! #F4EClim #SESAR3JU #FlightOptimization #greendeal
