In this 6th video of the "Resolution In A New Dimension For Solving Challenges Of Society" series, Jesus Jimenez-Barbero, Scientific Director of CIC bioGUNE in Bilbao, Spain, discusses his research on the role of sugars (glycans) in cellular interactions. Using NMR spectroscopy, his team studies how these flexible molecules interact with other cells and pathogens. He highlights advancements in NMR technology, including a new GHz instrument, which enhances their ability to analyze complex glycoproteins and their interactions, particularly in the context of viral infections and cancer. This research aims to develop new therapeutic strategies by understanding these molecular interactions. With this series, we highlight the ground-breaking research of our customers and show how the new GHz-class #NMR technology is used for finding solutions for structural biology key questions. #bioGUNE_News | 🌐 #Glycobasque7 advances the field of Glycosciences with international gathering of experts 🌍 On November 7th and 8th, the Euskadiko Parke Teknologikoa - Parque Tecnológico de Euskadi hosted #Glycobasque7, the seventh international congress focused on the rapidly advancing field of glycoscience. #bioGUNE_News | 🔬 #CICbioGUNE BRTA - Basque Research & Technology Alliance receives a FERO grant to boost breast cancer research Dr. Ana Ruiz-Saenz, Ikerbasque Group Leader of the Cancer Therapy Resistance Lab, has been awarded the VI FERO-ghd Project grant to advance research in breast cancer! With this grant, Dr. Ruiz-Sáenz will explore how changes in glycosylation in tumor cells can impact the effectiveness of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) for treating HER2-positive breast cancer.
