Campi Flegrei is moving again. And we’ve been watching closely. Years ago, at DARES, we conducted an InSAR study using Sentinel-1 radar data to monitor ground motion in Pozzuoli Bay. 📍 What did we observe? A gradual uplift trend over time. Surface displacement reaching 15 cm/year. Valuable insights into long-term ground stability. With InSAR technology, we can follow these subtle movements with millimetric precision, helping to improve understanding and preparedness for natural changes over time. Monitoring continues. Science advances. The story of Campi Flegrei is still unfolding. #InSAR #CampiFlegrei #GroundDeformation #SeismicMonitoring #VolcanicActivity

Are coastal cities sinking? Here is one example, Jakarta (Indonesia). By 2050, sea level rise could affect major cities. In addition, the subsidence of coastal cities must be considered as another critical factor. Jakarta's subsoil has been shifting for years . What is the exact cause, and can humans mitigate it? 🚰 Excessive groundwater extraction? 🏗️ Weakening infrastructure? 🌊 Failing flood defenses? 🛰️ InSAR monitoring tracked these changes with millimetric precision, exposing long-term risks. With this data, we can: ✅ Identify high-risk areas before it’s too late ✅ Improve infrastructure planning to prevent collapse ✅ Develop solutions to slow subsidence #InSAR #Jakarta #GroundDisplacement #ClimateChange #CoastalCities #SeaLevelRise

𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗶𝗻 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗮, 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱? We don’t know, but in many cases and under our experience, the warning signs were there. In some cases, Tailings failures don’t happen overnight, and we can see early warning signs of geotechnical precursors thanks to long-term and intensive monitoring programs. For example: 📉 Cadia 2018 showed us the power of predictive monitoring with InSar Data: ✔️ Ground displacement acceleration was visible 1.5 months before collapse. ✔️ Forward Model allowed for a potential forecasting the failure date with only 4 days of error. We have cost/effective monitoring tools to detect precursor ground displacements, if they exist, and many other examples of successful close collaborations with clients to prevent failures. All these tools are fully operational and can be applied remotely right Now, ready for the mining industry to move on in proactive actions and prevention. #TailingsSafety #InSAR #ChambishiFailure #CadiaDisaster #PredictiveMonitoring

Once the fire is out, what’s next? 🔥 The damage is only beginning. In February 2019, a wildfire swept through Mount Kenya burning thousands of hectares of moorland within the national park. But the real threat isn’t just the flames. It’s what happens after. Without vegetation: ❌ Erosion intensifies ❌ Soils degrade ❌ Ecosystems struggle to recover Traditional monitoring methods fail to track long-term damage, leaving restoration efforts blind to the true extent of the impact. 🛰️ That’s where InSAR monitoring comes in. ✅ Burn scars and terrain shifts with millimetric precision ✅ High-risk areas for erosion and instability ✅ Changes in land surface to guide reforestation efforts By analyzing pre- and post-fire satellite data, we can predict environmental risks and support smarter recovery strategies. The fire may be out, but the land is still changing. Tracking these shifts is key to protecting and restoring affected areas. 🌍 #InSAR #MountKenya #WildfireMonitoring #Sentinel1 #DaresTechnology

Sentinel-1C’s first InSAR data is here. 🌍🚀 And at DARES, we’re ready to put them to work. With the first datasets now released, Sentinel-1C is set to enhance global ground displacement monitoring, land mapping, and risk assessment. Its improved revisit time and all-weather capabilities will provide more frequent, high-precision radar data. At DARES Technology, we’re already integrating these new images into our workflows, ensuring that our clients and users get the most accurate insights from day one. Exciting times ahead! Let’s turn data into action. 🚀 #Sentinel1C #InSAR #Copernicus #ESA

We are fully committed providing reliable data for solving real problems and helping professionals to prevent and minimise the impact of disasters.
In January 2019, exactly 6 years ago, monsoon rains submerged Townsville, Australia. But when the waters receded, the real challenge began assessing the damage. Floodwaters don’t just disappear. They reshape the land. Traditional monitoring struggles to track long-term impacts: ground subsidence, infrastructure weakening, and environmental shifts. That’s where InSAR monitoring steps in. Using satellite radar, it detects ground deformation, structural instability, and ongoing flood effects with millimetric precision. Even in cloud-covered areas, InSAR provides continuous monitoring, ensuring the full impact of the disaster is measured and managed. The flood was sudden. The damage is still unfolding. With InSAR, we can monitor changes, protect infrastructure, and build resilience for the future. Floods leave a mark. Let’s make sure we don’t miss it. 🌍 #InSAR #FloodMonitoring #Townsville
