5DCulture: unlocking the power of 3D for cultural heritage 🏛️ How can technology make cultural heritage more inclusive and accessible? The 5DCulture European project funded under the Digital Europe Programme has shown that 3D innovation is a game-changer, bringing history, architecture, and archaeology to life for everyone, including travelers with disabilities. From interactive 3D fashion exhibitions allowing visitors to interact with fabrics and accessories to tactile archaeology models with audio descriptions by blind visitors, this initiative is proving that digital tools can break down barriers. In Spain, for example,  a collection of 3D models of archaeological Iberians objects was extensively used in education, with different workshops being carried at primary, secondary and university levels. And at Brú na Bóinne, one of Europe's most important prehistoric sites, advanced 3D models have made ancient art, artifacts and monuments more accessible through enhanced textures and detailed metadata. These tools and this project don’t just preserve history, they open doors to inclusive travel, ensuring that cultural exploration is accessible for everyone and pave the way for a future where digital tools and technologies bring cultural heritage to life. 🌍 From 4 to 6 February, CBE team traveled to Reus, Spain 🇪🇸, where our partners at DomSpain - Educational and Technological Services hosted the Training for Trainers meeting as part of the 🍇 AGORA Regenerative Tourism project!   💡🏞️ This event focused on strengthening trainers’ capacities by introducing and exploring the course modules developed by project partners. Through these sessions, participants gained the necessary tools to implement regenerative tourism practices in various contexts, promoting a more sustainable and resilient tourism landscape.   🏛️ Beyond the working sessions, we had the chance to immerse ourselves in Reus’ cultural heritage—visiting the stunning Casa Navàs, enjoying a thematic dinner at the Museum of Vermouth, and taking a guided tour to explore the city’s identity and ecosystem.   These experiences underscored the importance of place-based approaches in tourism, highlighting how history, culture, and local stakeholders can come together to foster more regenerative practices.   🇪🇺 🤝 A big thank you to all our partners Chambre de Commerce Italienne Nice, Sophia Antipolis, Cote d'Azur DomSpain - Educational and Technological Services Taste Roots Soc.Coop. The story of The Dance of Death Discover a testament to Slovenia’s rich cultural heritage: the Church of the Holy Trinity in Hrastovlje. Built in the late 15th century on the hills of Slovenia, this modest church with its castle-like appearance houses vibrant and enchanting frescoes, including the Dance of Death. This century-old eerie and magical artwork portrays skeletons guiding individuals from all walks of life to their final rest. Of all the magnificent colourful frescoes depicting the Bible before the eyes of the visitors, the Dance of Death is the most unique and famous one as it is a surviving example of the Danse Macabre theme in Central Europe, an art style produced as a reminder for people of the fragility of their lives. Through dedicated restoration efforts, the church and its stunning frescoes have been preserved so that future generations can admire this work and share their knowledge of the History of Slovenia. Today, the Church of Hrastovlje represents a popular tourist attraction and a symbol of the History and cultural heritage of the country. The local community that surrounds this sacred place enhances the visitor experiences by immersing tourists in their culture and traditions through cuisine or outdoor activities. This church, its conservation and the local community around it exemplify regenerative tourism through the restoration of historical treasures and the engagement of the local community, ensuring that cultural heritage thrives for years to come and supporting the region’s economy. "The wine that unlocks our better half " At the foot of the old volcano near the village of Zmeiovo, among vineyards that are slowly ripening under the cooler mountain air, one of the most unique Bulgarian boutique wines is born. Here, in the heart of Stara Zagora, Nikolay Dalakov has built not just a wine cellar - he has created a place where tradition meets innovation, and each bottle tells a story of passion for wine and life.    "Wine is not just a drink," says Dalakov. "It's a cultural and emotional product that brings people together and unlocks their better half. "That message is encoded in the name of his winery - "Better Half "- dedicated to his wife Yana, whom he calls the "better half" of the family.  In his winery, Dalakov is not afraid to experiment. Inspired by ancient practices, he began creating wine in clay vessels - amphorae, delvas, quavers - as was done thousands of years ago. These methods, combined with the mineral-rich volcanic soils of Zmeyovo and the slow ripening of the grapes at 650 metres above sea level, create wines of unique depth and character.  "During fermentation, we play music to the wine," Dalakov says with a smile. "For the whites and rosés, something livelier, rockier, and for the reds, classical music in modern arrangements." 🎉 Nottinghamshire Steps Up for Inclusive Tourism thanks to partnership with AccessAble Nottinghamshire is taking a big step toward becoming a more accessible destination by partnering with AccessAble, a national leader in accessibility information. This initiative, supported by VisitEngland, aims to help tourism and hospitality businesses provide quality-assured accessibility details. 6+ million disabled people rely on AccessAble each year to plan their trips confidently and make sure they can access detailed and accurate descriptions of venues to make informed choices. Thanks to AccessAble, businesses in Nottinghamshire can now easily book accessibility assessments via the new Your Accessibility Guide portal, offering either a Guided or On-Site assessment to create a Detailed Access Guide. These Detailed Access Guides are game-changers, covering everything from parking and step-free access to assistive listening systems and accessible toilets, through facts, figures and photographs, ensuring visitors know exactly what to expect before they arrive. This initiative aligns with VisitEngland’s mission to make tourism more inclusive nationwide, with Director Andrew Stokes encouraging businesses to sign up: 🗣️ “By making these user-friendly Guides available on AccessAble’s website, attractions, accommodation providers and other tourism businesses can tap into this valuable market further.
