GUARDIA CIVIL MUSEUM. MXGC Selected competition entry Together with @_emptysl Graphic design: @graficafutura The constructive proposal strives for creating an efficient and functional system, avoiding arbitrary and merely formal solutions. The main objective is to provide an enclosure that avoids energy losses. This is achieved by incorporating an external thermal insulation system and replacing the existing mullions. In addition to these passive measures, other active solutions are proposed, such as the incorporation of photovoltaic panels, an aerothermal system and a cistern on the roof to make use of rainwater. As for the finishes, a palette of materials has been chosen that minimises the carbon footprint throughout the manufacturing process. The elegance of terrazzo is combined with the avant-garde precision of stainless steel in a design that will stand the test of time. The existing space is preserved, and new “architecture within architecture” is introduced building up a coherent narrative subordinated to the displayed artifacts. A linear scheme has been proposed with a focus on an intuitive circulation and avoiding uncomfortable bounces along the route. MXGC Selected competition entry Together with @_emptysl Graphic design: @graficafutura With the aim of updating the existing building both formally and functionally, a series of notable interventions have been carried out, the first of these being the renovation of the façade and creation of a new access: A new landmark with a renewed appearance stands on the San Francisco de Sales promenade, transmiting the ideas that we intend to convey, removing the outdated ornamentation of the original building and framing the access in a unique way. We proposed a renovated main entrance accessible through an interior ramp, avoiding any addition that would invade the public sidewalk. #architecture #museum #competition #guardiacivil #frade

MXGC Selected competition entry Together with Empty A new street level access is integrated, leading to the welcome space through an interior ramp, avoiding any addition that would invade the public sidewalk. In the main hall you can find the information and ticket desk, cloakroom, security offices, cafeteria, shop and library. The permanent exhibition is located in the west wing and the rear warehouse establishing a circular route that begins and ends in the entrance hall. With a focus on the competition brief and the applicable regulations regarding internal operation, circulation and evacuation, two communication cores are proposed, allowing independent access for the general public and the institution's staff, as well as the correct evacuation in case of emergency. SAN CARLOS CONGRESS CENTRE 1st Prize International design competition. Together with Luca Poian Forms and Prointec The tapered masses will be clad in White glazed ceramic bricks in a nod to Valencian tradition, resulting in a glimmering facade. February 3rd was huge step forward and an important milestone for Alicante's future Congress Centre. The awards ceremony was a memorable event, thanks to the collaboration and joint efforts of all the entities that made this project possible.
