A family of solute carriers (SLC) is an important group of membrane transporters involved in drug absorption, distribution and elimination. Evaluation of transporter-mediated drug-drug interactions (DDI) is required by regulatory bodies to identify if a new drug candidate is an object (a substrate of an enzyme or a transporter, previously referred to as a ‘victim’) or a precipitant (a drug that can induce or inhibit an enzyme or transporter, previously referred to as a perpetrator). Does your compound form reactive metabolites? 🔬 Reactive metabolites are one of the main factors causing unexpected drug-induced toxicity; by binding enzymes, cell proteins or DNA. It is therefore advisable to identify reactive metabolites in the early phase of drug discovery to predict potentially harmful toxic reactions. Reactive metabolites are typically electrophilic compounds with very short life-spans and are therefore trapped with nucleophilic trapping agents such as glutathione or cyanide to enable their analysis. We use UPLC/HR-MS to detect metabolites even in very low concentrations, there is no generic methodology, all analytical methods are optimized for your compounds. https://lnkd.in/dx5qs9fg
