The European Commission has unveiled its milestone policy package, Clean Industrial Deal. In our view, the Commission has chosen the right approach: energy-intensive industries and clean energy production must work together, with clean electrification at the core. This synergy is critical for Europe’s competitiveness, decarbonisation, and energy independence. While the package is encouraging in many ways, it does not yet provide full clarity on the role of all low-carbon technologies, including nuclear, in the EU frameworks. However, this is just the beginning - the path ahead remains long and the real work starts now in defining concrete actions. #cleanindustrialdeal #decarbonisation #electrification

Our Financial Statements and Operating and Financial Review for 2024 are out! For the first time, the Operating and Financial Review also includes the Sustainability Statement, which has been prepared in accordance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). In the Sustainability Statement we map out in detail our transition plan and commitment to achieving targets verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).   In 2024, 99% of Fortum’s power generation derived from renewable or nuclear sources. Fortum’s total Scope 1, 2 and 3 market-based GHG emissions were 12.9 Mt CO2-eq, a decrease of 1.2 Mt CO2-eq (9%) compared to the previous year.   In addition to the Financials, we have also published the Governance Statement, the Remuneration Report, CEO’s Business Review and the Tax Footprint for 2024.
