The installation of the third turbine at the Pahkakoski wind farm was completed the night before last! We expect these turbines to be connected to the grid by the end of November. Did you know that under favorable weather conditions, a turbine can be installed in only 48 hours? While we hope for wind to generate energy, we actually prefer calm weather for installing wind turbines. P.S. Working at night in Northern Finland offers breathtaking views, including the beautiful aurora borealis. (Images by SILVASTI) #Pahkakoski #WindFarm #WindPower #Sustainability #TCI

We have been at the forefront of the energy transition since 2011 generating clean electricity sustainably and efficiently from natural sources, wind and sun. With energy storage, we enhance a more flexible energy ecosystem. We have grown to a leading renewable energy provider and Independent Power Producer (IPP) in the Nordics. Our CEO Juha-Pekka Weckström has been recognised on Tamarindo's Energy Transition Power List 2024, which is the 13th annual rundown of top 100 professionals leading the growth of renewable energy and having had the greatest impact on the rollout of renewable energy projects. #PowerList #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #Renewables #Wind #Solar #EnergyStorage https://lnkd.in/dfYFV9xa

Happy United Nation's Day! At Ilmatar, we recognize the importance of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in shaping the global response to the climate crisis. The energy sector, in particular, has a critical role to play in addressing many of these challenges, from providing clean, affordable energy to ensuring a sustainable future for all. For us, the UN SDGs guide our commitment to a cleaner energy transition and underline the importance of responsible, long-term solutions. By aligning with these goals, we ensure that our work contributes to tackling climate change while fostering economic growth and environmental stewardship. Last week, our offshore wind project managers David Ståhlman and Jori Sihvonen attended the second annual seminar on offshore wind and migratory fish in Kemi, organised by the Finnish-Swedish Border River Commission. Kemi, 30km from the mouth of Torne river - home to 80 per cent of all wild salmon in the Baltic Sea - was the perfect location for this important meeting. Scientists, experts, authorities and organisations from both Finland and Sweden gathered to share the latest research and their approaches to the topic of migratory fish. Discussions covered the mapping of fish migration routes and feeding areas, as well as understanding and preventing the effects of electromagnetic radiation from submarine cables. A key focus of the year was the cumulative effects of the construction of numerous wind farms. Discussions included how coordination and availability of data from the Baltic Sea region, as well as coordination of regulatory requirements and funding partnerships, can help assess and manage these effects. Although knowledge gaps remain, awareness of the migratory fish issue has increased and co-operation between stakeholders is taking shape. Renewables Finland presented LUKE's public-private partnership project proposal, which aims to further investigate fish migration issues for salmon, among other things. At Ilmatar, we follow the development with great interest. The more reliable data we have regarding ecology, the smarter we can plan offshore wind power. #offshorewind #ecology #migratoryfish #sustainability #ilmatar #renewableenergy

A significant milestone in our Pahkakoski wind farm project in Northern Finland! We are thrilled to announce that the very first wind turbine in Pahkakoski has achieved its full height and mechanical completion. While we have built turbines before, this one is particularly special as it marks our first project using the TCI model. A big thank you to our partner SILVASTI for their outstanding execution of this project. The effective project planning and open dialogue among all parties have been key factors in making this first large scale TCI project a success story in Europe. One turbine assembled - 29 more to come! #WindPower #WindFarm #SustainableFuture #RenewableEnergy #TCI
Silvasti’s TCI-project of building 30 WTG’s in Northern Finland has reached a major milestone! Late last night, the first wind turbine reached its full height and mechanical completion. There is excellent spirit and cooperation between all the parties. The proficient project planning and direct dialoque with the end client have made the Europe’s first large scale TCI- project a success. Last Saturday, we celebrated the opening of the Västervik wind farm in Kristiinankaupunki in sunny weather! Guests got a peek inside one of the turbines, and Mayor Mila Segervall gave a speech to commemorate the occasion. This project, initiated by local landowners 15 years ago, now operates without government subsidies with nine turbines. Thanks to everyone involved! #Ilmatar #WindPower #RenewableEnergy #Kristiinankaupunki

This week, our Ilmatar team visited Prysmian Group's cable manufacturing facilities in Pikkala, where we explored their innovative cable technology for wind farms. We were impressed by Prysmian’s commitment to sustainability and their plan to achieve net-zero, presented by Olli Anttonen. Did you know their new tower will double cable manufacturing capacity and become the tallest building in Finland, symbolizing a commitment to green energy? At Ilmatar, we prioritize partnering with responsible companies like Prysmian that share our sustainability values. Together, we’re advancing the energy transition. Thank you, Katja Seppä, for hosting us! #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #GreenEnergy #WindPower #RenewableEnergy
