Getting a clear idea of a patent’s scope and relevance can be an arduous task, especially if you are analysing multiple patents at once. But with Ask AI, this is a frustration of the past. Last month, IPRally's CPO and co-founder Sakari Arvela covered the top use cases for generative AI within the patent review process, demonstrated with IPRally’s Ask AI feature. Today’s example looks at embodiments described in a patent, which, while providing a clear picture of the patent's scope and relevance, are usually buried in lengthy descriptions, and difficult to comprehend. By using Ask AI to request a summary of the invention and the main embodiments, along with answers to specific critical questions, you get precisely the information you need. ▪️What is the key invention of the patent and its benefits? ▪️What are the main embodiments and their benefits? ▪️Does any of the embodiments address water tightness? If you’re a Chemist, just replace “embodiments” with “examples”, and off you go. Check out Sakari’s demonstration below.

Whilst general summarizations of patents can be helpful in identifying technical aspects, what if you wanted to drill down into multiple aspects of a patent at once? IPRally CPO, Sakari Arvela, recently showcased 10 time-saving use cases for Ask AI, IPRally's generative AI feature, within the patent review process. The next use case up is multi-aspect summarization, and using Ask AI to build an overall perception of the key contents of a patent, e.g. the problem it solves and proposed main solutions to the problem. To do this, you could use a prompt like this: 1️⃣ Which problem does the invention solve? 2️⃣ How does it solve the problem? 3️⃣ What are the benefits? 4️⃣ Summarize the independent claims. As you can see in the video below the output is a very digestible overview of the patent. Handy for R&D and innovation teams looking to understand how they could increase novelty or add an inventive step to a design. To view all the use cases Sakari describes you can find the link to his blog in the comments below.

How can generative AI increase the efficiency and effectiveness of patent review? IPRally CPO, Sakari Arvela, recently showcased 10 time-saving use cases for Ask AI, IPRally's generative AI feature, within the patent review process. First up is the targeted summarisation of patents 👇 Patent abstracts are known to everyone, but they seldom capture the particular interesting points in specific cases. This is solved by Ask AI, which allows you to focus the summary on any particular technical aspect. For example: 🔵 Summarize lid rotation and position-related aspects of the patent. 🔵 Summarize hinge assembly-related aspects. 🔵 What does the patent talk about manufacturing of the device? 🔵 Summarize the independent claims in layman's terms. 🔵 Summarize the method claims in max 20 words. Watch the video to see this in action, and if you want to see more use cases you can find the link to Sakari's blog in the comments below.

How does the structure of patent data pave the way for a graph-based patent search engine? In our final episode of RallyCast's inaugural season, John Paul K. invites IPRally's co-founders Juho Kallio and Juuso Piskonen to talk about the history of IPRally and how the first ideas took form at a co-founder networking event in Helsinki seven years ago. Learn about the nature of patent data, the difference between Graph AI and LLM, what IPRay is, and what it means for speed and cost efficiency in IPRally's development. And have you ever wondered why the snow thrower became IPRally’s mascot? Tune in to find out. Link to the full episode in the comments below 👇 #ai #patents #searchengines #development #innovation

Over the past year, the progress with IPRally's search model has been tremendous, and the trend continues with the latest Graph Transformer 3.0. Recall metrics have improved to the point where today’s recall at 10 documents matches what it was at 20 documents a year ago. If this pace of development continues, Boolean searches might soon be history. Juho Kallio, CTO and Co-founder, provides context for this progress and explains why he wouldn't teach his son to write cumbersome Boolean queries. Link in the comments 👇

"These kind of key insights have allowed us to build something unique, not just for patent search but for search engines in general." In the third episode of RallyCast, John Paul K. invites IPRally's co-founders Juho Kallio and Juuso Piskonen to talk about the history of IPRally and how the first ideas took form at a co-founder networking event in Helsinki seven years ago. Learn about the nature of patent data, the difference between Graph AI and LLM, what IPRay is, and what it means for speed and cost efficiency in IPRally's development. And have you ever wondered why the snow thrower became IPRally’s mascot? Tune in to find out. After this episode, RallyCast will take a summer break. But we’ll return in the autumn with fresh topics, new guests, and great conversations. Link to full episode in the comments. #ai #patents #searchengines #development #innovation
