    Thank you, Pascual Innoventures , for organizing the Mylkcubator - More than Mylk event last week! We were thrilled to participate along with other great companies, such as Nosh.bio, Innomy, CULTZYME , and California Cultured Inc. Mylkcubator is a program launched by Pascual Innoventures that aims to support highly innovative startups specializing in transforming the food value chain. In this new edition, their focus has expanded beyond dairy products to encompass a broader range of research, including cellular agriculture for alternative food production. Carla Lopes Graça and Emma Penttinen were thrilled to attend the event and showcase Bioalbumen® and all the tasty food applications made with it: delicious almendrados, a silky flan, a delightful sponge cake, and the smoothest mayo.     Egg proteins... without eggs, a reality thanks to Onego Bio! 🌍💡 Newtree Impact is proud to be part of this revolution with a new €750,000 investment in Onego Bio alongside food industry leaders: NordicNinja VC, Tesi, Maki.vc, Agronomics Pvt. Ltd. and EIT Food. Onego Bio is crossing the boundaries of innovation with its precision fermentation technology. The biotech produces egg proteins without intensive farming and with a significantly reduced environmental impact. Its product, Bioalbumen, is identical to egg white in terms of nutritional value, but with 90% less CO2 emissions.     We are honored to share that Onego Bio has been awarded $2 million in funding from the United States Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) Distributed Bioindustrial Manufacturing Program (DBIMP). The funding from this program supports the advancement of biomanufacturing infrastructure across the United States, strengthening the domestic supply of key materials and ingredients. The DBIMP funding program stems from the White House's 2022 Executive Order 14081, "Advancing Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Innovation for a Sustainable, Safe, and Secure American Bioeconomy," which seeks to strengthen the United States' leadership in biomanufacturing by fostering innovation, improving supply chain resilience, and supporting economic growth.     We’re delighted to be featured in the San Diego Business Journal about the opening of our new San Diego office!✨ Our 4,500-square-foot space in Sorrento Valley serves as our commercial headquarters, complete with state-of-the-art test kitchen and quality labs. The facility is also a resource for our food manufacturing partners, showcasing the application and versatility of Bioalbumen® in a variety of delicious food and beverages. San Diego’s thriving biotech ecosystem, strong culture of innovation, and access to top-tier talent made it an ideal location for our U.S. office.     Great insights from McKinsey & Company's study: majority of consumers (61% !!) are open to trying novel ingredients like animal-free egg protein and more than half are willing to pay more for these products. ✨ What drives this motivation? Consumers prioritize food ingredients that are healthier, taste as good or better, and are more sustainable than traditional foods. 🍽️ The survey results also show that nearly half of the respondents would try products made with animal-free eggs for snacks on-the-go snack (48 %), lunch (46 %), and breakfast (47 %). 🍳 In addition, more than half of consumers are even willing to pay more for novel ingredients, and over a fifth are willing to pay four times as much for products made with them. "Eggs are one of the world’s most used animal proteins. As an ingredient, they assist with binding, thickening, leavening, emulsifying, and more; however, the current egg production system is not sustainable" - Maija Itkonen, CEO of Onego Bio.
