Recently we were happy to announce winning the international category of the Deep Space Food Challenge, a competition organized by NASA and their Canadian counterpart CSA, aimed at driving innovation in food systems for long-term space missions. Our #Solein, a protein produced with electricity, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and water, garnered attention for its potential to create food in space using resources available aboard spacecrafts or lunar bases. ✏️ In our new blog post our Senior Vice President, Space and Defence Arttu Luukanen shares the journey, challenges and future outlook on humanity’s goal to sustain life beyond Earth, and how learnings gained from space exploration could steer more effective resource management on our home planet, paving the way for a more sustainable future. Did you know? We are working to make #Solein also a space food 🚀 Developing a Solein production unit small enough to fit on a space vessel would help a space flight’s food security. This could make new missions to the deep space, previously beyond humanity’s abilities, possible. Our work hasn't gone unnoticed as we recently triumphed in the international category of NASA's Deep Space Food Challenge. This competition, launched in January 2021 by NASA in collaboration with the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), recognizes the most innovative solutions in space food production.
