Sustainable safe drinking water solutions for vulnerable populations, already serving 1M people across 4 countries
À propos
1001fontaines is a non-profit organization designing and deploying sustainable safe drinking water solutions for vulnerable populations. The NGO 1001fontaines was created in 2004 and is dedicated to improving the health of isolated populations by enabling them to produce and consume safe drinking water based on a social business model that ensures the communities’ autonomy and sustainability. The 1001fontaines safe drinking water production units (water kiosks) are managed as micro-businesses by local villagers trained to become entrepreneurs. The purified water, sealed in sterilised 20 litre containers, is sold to villagers at an affordable price. The exact selling price is determined in consultation with local community leaders, and is usually set at around € 0.02 per litre. The revenues generated by the water sales enable the local entrepreneurs to cover their costs and ensure the sustainability of the initiative. A water kiosk generally produces 2,000 to 3,000 litres of safe drinking water per day, enabling 1,500 people to benefit from the service, or 250 families. More than 300 water kiosks are currently operating. Once a site reaches its break-even point (when revenues cover all costs), the entrepreneur takes part in the "Water in School" programme to provide water free of charge to children at school. Today our water kiosks enable more than 1 million people to benefit from safe drinking water every day and 316,000 children in their schools through the "Water in School" programme. Our ambition is to reach 2 million beneficiaries by 2025.

🙏 Thank you to Cartier Philanthropy for their support and presence at our 20th anniversary celebration! 🎉 On this occasion, Samdoup Pascal Allier, Programs Officer at Cartier Philanthropy, perfectly captured the essence of our partnership: 📢 “If the Foundation supports 1001fontaines it is above all because its ambition for excellence in service reflects the vision of a company like Cartier. The fact that 1001fontaines now serves 26% of Cambodia's rural population is no coincidence. Unlike traditional organizations where the local people are the ones who have to adapt, 1001fontaines overturns this paradigm: it is the organization that responds to the needs of the community. With values such as impact, sustainability, and ambition at the heart of its model, it’s only natural for us to support its action, in Cambodia and now in Madagascar.” 🌍 This stands as an amazing tribute to Teuksaat1001 NGO, our on-the-ground partner, whose dedication and impact in Cambodia are invaluable. 💧 We are truly grateful to Cartier Philanthropy for their lasting commitment, which continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of thousands. 🙌 #Thanks #Partnership #CartierPhilanthropy #TeukSaat1001 #Cambodia #20Years #1001fontaines #Ranontsika #WaterForAll #SafeDrinkingWater #SocialImpact #SustainableDevelopment #Celebration #Anniversary #Birthday #EssentialServices

🙏 Thank you to Fondation Veolia and Veolia for their continuous support! During our 20th anniversary celebration, we had the honor of welcoming Armelle Perrin-Guinot, Director of Societal Engagements at Veolia, who spoke about the collaboration with Teuksaat1001 NGO, our partner in Cambodia. Special thanks to her for her contribution. We would also like to thank David Poinard from the Fondation Veolia, a historical partner of 1001fontaines for his invaluable support throughout our journey. 💧 To Armelle Perrin-Guinot: "Fondation Veolia is an organization that supports projects of general interest around three key areas: humanitarian aid and development, environmental and biodiversity protection, and employment and social ties. (...) The Foundation seeks long-term partnerships. Our story with 1001fontaines is truly the best example of this, as the project was supported from the beginning, continues to grow, and the Foundation is proud to keep on supporting it." 📽️ You can watch Armelle's full intervention on YouTube here: https://lnkd.in/ehgXiVdX #Thanks #Partnership #FondationVeolia #Veolia #TeukSaat1001 #Cambodia #20Years #1001fontaines #WaterForAll #SafeDrinkingWater #SocialImpact #SustainableDevelopment #Celebration #Anniversary #Birthday
