The CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) granted its certification to Elixir Aircraft. This new approval authorises Elixir Aircraft to deliver aircraft that are immediately operable in flight schools in the United Kingdom. Some thirty Elixir aircraft are already in operation at French flight schools, including Airbus Flight Academy, others have been ordered by European pilot schools (Portugal, Spain, Greece, etc.). Global Medical Response has placed an order for 28 Airbus helicopters, including six H125s, five H130s, 14 H135s and three H145s, as it continues expanding its air medical fleet. Following GMR’s order of five Airbus helicopters earlier in 2024, the company will operate a fleet of nearly 200 Airbus helicopters, reinforcing its position as one of the largest operators of Airbus helicopters in North America. Expanding on the 28 aircraft ordered, GMR will have options to purchase an additional 23 new Airbus helicopters over the next three years. With this order, GMR is anticipated to be among the first in North America to operate the IFR-capable H125. ATR announced that Rise Air, a 100 per cent Indigenous-owned airline providing essential services across Saskatchewan, is upgrading its fleet with three new 68-seat ATR 72-600, becoming the Canadian launch customer for the latest generation ATR -600 series. The first aircraft is a firm order with ATR, set to be delivered by the end of 2025. The company plans to lease two others for delivery in 2026. CAE will increase its ownership stake in its existing SIMCOM Aviation Training joint venture by purchasing a majority of SIMCOM shares from Volo Sicuro for USD $230 million, subject to customary adjustments, to be financed with CAE’s existing credit facility and cash on hand. As part of the transaction, Flexjet, LLC, a related party of Volo Sicuro, will retain a minority stake in SIMCOM following the closing, expected to take place in the coming days. Aircraft Propeller Service is making a strategic investment in Malaysia’s workforce by sending 20 recruits out of its 30-member team to the U.S. and Brazil for comprehensive skills training. The recruits are preparing to support operations at APS' upcoming MRO facility in Kuala Lumpur, which is set to open early next year. Half of the recruits are currently training at APS’ headquarters in Lake Zurich, Illinois; while the others are undergoing hands-on learning at APS’ facility in São Paulo, Brazil. Airbus Helicopters has signed a landmark contract with SkyAlyne, a joint venture between Canadian defence leaders CAE and KF Aerospace, to provide the Royal Canadian Air Force with 19 Airbus H135 helicopters to train the next generation of RCAF Pilots. The contract is part of Canada’s Future Aircrew Training Program and marks the first time that Airbus helicopters will fly as part of the Canadian Armed Forces.
