As the Hinkley Point C turbine hall takes shape, have a look behind the scenes at the Arabelle turbine for HPC while it was being assembled at our Belfort factory. Equipped with the largest last-stage blade ever made, the two turbines will generate 3.2GW of low-carbon electricity for the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station in the UK – enough to power around six million homes. We’re proud to contribute to this important step towards low-carbon energy. #Innovation #Sustainability #EngineeringExcellence

Great discussions at @EnergyDays in Poland this week. Our Head of Sourcing Anna Kopytowska joined a panel of industry and government experts discussing the important strategic nuclear energy projects in Poland. As part of the move to a low-carbon energy future, we believe in the importance of fostering the wider nuclear energy ecosystem to build knowledge and develop future generations of engineers. Poland is an important hub for Arabelle Solutions and over 20 local companies are already supplying vital parts to the global nuclear industry. We recently signed 40 more agreements to expand our local supply chain as we build on the expertise of Polish companies. With the Rajasthan Atomic Power Project, Unit 7 (RAPP-7) at Rawatbhata having achieved criticality in mid-September, our teams are ready for the next important step of synchronizing the 700 MW turbine to the Indian Grid. RAPP-7 is the third indigenous 700 MW Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (#PHWR) that is being set up in India. Meanwhile Kakrapar Atomic Power Project, Unit 4 (KAPP- 4) has also received the Performance Certificate. KAPP Unit- 4 was synchronized to the grid in February and has now successfully completed all testing. Congratulations to the entire team including site, engineering and project teams to completing these important milestones. #NuclearPower #Teanwork

Our team has successfully completed the steam turbine retrofit at the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant in China, delivering a significant power-uplift. Daya Bay has been operating since 1994 and was seeking a 30-year life-extension for its two 1,000 MW class turbines, originally installed by Alstom. For the upgrade Arabelle Solutions worked with Daya Bay NPP to re-design the LP module path flow and manufactured the equipment. The team developed a detailed schedule for the extensive work, replacing, six sets of rotors, inner casings, blade holders, complete bearings and more. Unit 2 was retrofitted at the end of last year and Unit 1 this spring, with the rigorous testing program completed last month. Following the retrofit, the modernized plant’s improved effectiveness is expected to save hundreds of thousand tons of CO2 emissions a year, compared to a standard coal powered plant. #RetrofitService

Having attended the first criticity led by EDF and Framatome at Flamanville 3 EPR last week, we were impressed by the dedication, professionalism and safety focus of the team. With our partners we are now getting ready for the next step in the commissioning program. Before the end of the autumn, we will start synchronizing our Arabelle turbine and 1680MW Gigatop 4 generator to the grid. With a length of 70 meters they will constitute one of the largest turbine hall shaftlines in operation. Ahead of the next milestone we are maintaining the turbine hall, including its vertical moisture separator reheaters, low and high-pressure heat exchangers, circulating water flow pumps and more, as fully operational. #Teamwork
