[Power-to-Platform]⚡This video illustrates the innovative solution co-developed with BW Offshore to harness renewable energy for powering Oil and Gas (O&G) platforms and electrifying FPSOs, combining BW Offshore's 40 years of experience in O&G with our cutting-edge floating offshore wind turbine technology. The unique design of our Damping Pool® floating foundation has been key to enabling this energy storage solution. 🎬 Ready to see it in action? Hit play and discover how it works!
🌍 We are excited to announce the release of our latest video, showcasing our "Power to Platform" concept with floating offshore wind turbine(s) developed in collaboration with BW Ideol. The concept represents our commitment to the energy transition and our strategy to create renewable and low-carbon solutions. BW Ideol have been providing an option with battery integration as part of their solution since 2019, and significant steps have been made to enhance the integrated design in the last two years, making it market ready. The concept includes a battery energy storage system integrated into the patented Damping Pool® floating foundation hull and is a solution designed for the electrification of FPSOs and oil and gas platforms offshore, reducing carbon emissions. The solution is based on a generic design that can be customised for the needs of each customer, whether it is a new greenfield development or brownfield modification of an existing asset. The Power to Platform concept is a testament to the expertise and joint efforts of BW Offshore and BW Ideol, combining 40 years of experience from oil and gas with pioneering experience in design and operation of floating offshore wind turbines. To strengthen our efforts in developing such electrification prospects at the Norwegian Continental Shelf, a Joint Venture company named Fram Wind Solutions has been established (owned by BW Offshore (50%), Grieg Kapital (35%), and Fram Green Technology AS (15%), respectively). The initiative aligns with BW Offshore's strategy to actively participate in the energy transition, integrating renewable energy solutions into our operations and offering sustainable solutions to the market. Join us on this exciting journey towards a sustainable future. Stay tuned for more updates and insights into our projects and initiatives. [Mediterranean Tender AO6 Winners] 📢 BW Ideol congratulates EDF Renouvelables and Maple Power for securing the 250 MW floating offshore wind farm project off the French coast near Fos-sur-Mer as part of the Mediterranean Tender (AO6). As the technology partner of the consortium owned by EDF Renewables and Maple Power since 2022, BW Ideol is proud to contribute to this significant project, which will play a key role in establishing an industrial value chain for floating wind in the Mediterranean. This achievement highlights the competitiveness of floating offshore wind, particularly through the local production of concrete floating foundations. Our CEO Paul DE LA GUERIVIERE 🎙️: "We are extremely proud to be the technology partner of the winning consortium led by EDF Renewables and Maple Power. This result demonstrates that BW Ideol’s technology, one of the few proven at sea under real-world conditions for over five years, is a winning solution for floating wind farm developers." Project Director - Buchan Offshore Wind | Non Exec Director at Scottish Renewables | Views are my own
Well, that’s almost the end of another busy year for Buchan Offshore Wind! And the end of a whirlwind 5 months having joined the team back in August. It’s great to be back at the sharp end of development and enjoying the many challenges as we move from early-stage development to taking ever more material strides toward a financial investment decision. The highlights of the year for the project and team have included: 🟢 Our offshore and onshore consents are well on track for submission next year, and the team has continued to engage with a vast range of stakeholders as we seek to refine our project design. 🟢 We completed our environmental and ornithology surveys and have now amassed more than two years’ worth of metocean and wind data. Having a full dataset of site conditions has validated our understanding of the project conditions and reinforced our belief that Buchan is a deliverable and attractive site for a floating offshore wind development. 🟢 Having a robust data set is critical to securing the bankability of our project, but also to informing the engineering design. Working with project partners BW Ideol, we have made great progress in maturing the design of the Damping Pool® barge foundation and its mooring system, working closely with DNV on preparing certification for a design that will deliver low-cost energy in the North Sea’s dynamic conditions. 🟢 And the benefit of maturing our design, is the material engagement we have been able to undertake with the supply chain. BW Ideol is continuing its work at the Port of Ardersier on the facilities that will be necessary for serial production of concrete structures, and which will drive many of the 2,900 jobs which Buchan Offshore Wind will support at the peak of construction. My personal reflections are that it’s not enough to have a great project, you need a great team to make it a reality. I have been blown away by the capability, commitment and talents of the Buchan team, and we are already working to grow our head count and expertise again next year, as we seek to progress what would be one of the world’s largest and first commercial floating offshore wind projects. All in all a great 2024, but plenty more to come in 2025! BayWa r.e. Global, Elicio, BW Ideol #offshorewind #floatingoffshorewind

[MediaFlashback 2024]💫Windpower Monthly has named the interview with our CEO, Paul DE LA GUERIVIERE, as one of the most notable interviews and podcast episodes of 2024. This interview, conducted nearly a year ago, highlights the use of concrete floaters as the safest and fastest way to bring floating wind projects to life in Europe. Today, this perspective is more relevant than ever. 🎙 Paul DE LA GUERIVIERE “The key driver for cost reduction now, and to deliver capacity, is really to secure and optimise the supply chain, ensuring it can meet the demand and deliver the required volumes. [...] With concrete manufacturing, you are totally independent. You have less volatility, less risk, and full control.” https://lnkd.in/dckqSkup
