At CHANDON China, and all our wineries across the globe, we are intimately connected to nature with a shared goal of achieving regenerative farming certifications on our six estates by 2028. In parallel to the World Living Soils Forum (WLSF) by Moët Hennessy in collaboration with ChangeNOW, today we are hosting a similar event at our CHANDON China estate in Ningxia.    Today, our Estate Director, Long SU, is convening with researchers and key stakeholders to share knowledge and best practices on soil regeneration such as cover cropping, livestock integration, tillage reduction, and the substitution of chemical inputs by natural alternatives, all of which have helped improve soil quality, reducing soil and water pollution, preventing erosion, retaining water, and fostering biodiversity in our vineyards.    As a team at CHANDON China we are always looking to improve upon our efforts to safeguard our terroir, which include the use organic farming methods and working with our farmers and local experts to adopt best practices for both vineyard health and harvest yield. Today is UN International Geodiversity Day. While in wine we often speak about the importance of biodiversity in our vineyards, this notion is inextricably linked to geodiversity. The purpose of the day is to promote the understanding of the Earth’s dynamic processes, so we, as a global community, can make better choices for our home. Geodiversity refers to the Earth’s minerals, rocks, fossils, soils, sediments, landforms, topography and bodies of water – the fingerprint of our planet, if you will. With six wineries spanning four continents, CHANDON’s communities live at the foothills of the Andes in Argentina, California’s Napa Valley, the subtropical region of Serra Gaúcha in Brazil, the cool climate of the Yarra Valley in Australia, the mystical base of Helan Mountain at Ningxia in north-central China, and the tropical hills of Nashik in India’s state of Maharashtra. In our 65 years of existence, we have learned to live in harmony with our surroundings, always grateful to the generosity nature gives when she is cared for in turn. Award harvest is almost over at CHANDON California. The Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships awarded two gold medals to CHANDON California for its signature blends: CHANDON California NV Brut and CHANDON California NV Rosé, plus three silver titles for CHANDON California non-vintage Blanc de Pinot Noir, CHANDON California non-vintage Etoile Rosé, and CHANDON California non-vintage Pinot Noir Reserve Rosé. These sparkling wines embody the CHANDON California house style, that is both sophisticated and exuberant. “Our wines are made using the traditional method, though as ever at CHANDON, technique follows style,” says Winemaking Director Pauline Lhote. Congratulations are in order for her all-female winemaking team, who continue to push the boundaries of their craft, unrestrained, always opening up a world of possibilities! Award harvest season continues at CHANDON Australia! At the Sparkling Wine World Championship 2024, the estate’s two flagship wines earned stellar accolades. A Gold title went to CHANDON Australia non-vintage Rosé, a careful blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Meunier and Pinot Gris wines from the YarraValley, Strathbogie Ranges and the Whitlands Plateau. This sparkling treasure also received 90 points at the International Wine Challenge this year. The Silver went to CHANDON Australia non-vintage brut, a mix of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier grapes carefully selected from cool climate spots across Victoria, including Whitlands Plateau, Strathbogie Ranges and the Upper Yarra Valley. Fresh and vibrant, it is delicious with fresh oysters, scallops and grilled calamari, as well as soft white cheeses.
