At Colas, maintaining the safety of our teams, and road users is a top priority. In partnership with FYLD, we are transforming our operations through the integration of AI-driven tools, particularly within the Area 9 contract. The use of this innovative technology enables us to streamline workflows, enhance project management, and improve decision-making processes in real time. Colas maintains the Area 9 network, which is part of the UK’s Strategic Road Network (SRN), a vital component of the country’s infrastructure that supports the movement of goods and people. By working with FYLD on the Area 9 project, we are able to prioritise a proactive approach which helps us maintain high standards of road safety and service quality for all users. General Manager in Area 9, Andy Gillbanks, and FYLD Strategic Account Director, Joshua Wood, have collaborated to talk about why safety transformation is important, and how we are delivering this across Area 9. [We ACT for the planet 🌍] Construction is more than just work 🚸 The RN1, also known as the Transgabonaise, is the main road crossing Gabon. In the heart of the Monts de Cristal forest, our teams rehabilitated this major infrastructure using the Recycol in-place recycling technique ♻ In addition to using this maintenance solution, our employees implemented a series of initiatives to improve the impact of the worksite as well as its integration within the local area: - Transport of materials by barge from the Kinguélé quarry - Partnership with Gabon's National Parks Agency to raise awareness of the need to preserve biodiversity and combat poaching - Construction of barriers to protect schoolchildren along the roadside - Drilling wells to provide drinking water sources for local residents along the site route Congratulations to the teams for this project, which is transforming mobility in Gabon, and for their commitment to the local population! 👏 Kudos Colas Afrique! #ColasCares #WeActForCommunities

[Our own way 🙌] On the road to safer travel in the Czech Republic! Our teams from COLAS CZ recently wrapped up work on a new section of the D3 highway! This long-awaited project will notably help improve safety on the historically dangerous road and connect communities. Some notable features of the Úsilné - Hodějovice section, for which work began in 2019: • Total length of about 4.5 miles • Several grade-separated crossings, including one interchange • More than 3 miles of noise barriers • Almost 2.5 miles of repaired roads, local roads, and paths • 12 bridges, 6 on the D3 motorway itself • Construction of the Pohůrka tunnel, measuring over half a mile The Pohůrka tunnel proved to be the biggest technical challenge for team members, who had to adapt to high groundwater levels. A big round of applause for our teams for their hard work 👏 #WeOpenTheWay #ColasCares #Construction

[Our highlights 💛] Colas Cares! Did you know that in addition to constructing roads, we also have a large road maintenance activity that is near and dear? Our goal is to foster healthy, well-maintained roads. And this is not unlike fostering healthy, well-maintained relationships… both require upkeep, care, love, and attention…more than just one day a year 💛 #ColasCares #Maintenance #WeOpenTheWay #ValentinesDay

Työmaapäällikkömme Jorma Huttunen on tehnyt jäätien parissa hommia jo useampana talvena. 🧊 Kuva: Jorma Huttunen #destia #infraaihmisille #infrantaju

[Our own way 🙌] Crushing it in Croatia! 🛣 Our teams from COLAS Hrvatska recently wrapped up works on the A11 highway! The two-year project involved building a 11-km extension from Zagreb southward to Sisak, an area heavily impacted by the devastating 2020 earthquake. With over 100 employees working on site and 75,000 metric tons of asphalt laid (including 66% of reclaimed asphalt pavement), this new stretch will help bolster economic development in the region by connecting it to the Croatian capital.
