[Our own way 🙌] Creating connections between Gisors and Pontoise in northern France! Our teams from Colas Rail recently laced up their boots and raced against the clock to finish a two-week project for SNCF RESEAU, the French national rail network’s infrastructure manager! The works included renovating the J line between Gisors and Pontoise and making it possible to lift the permanent speed limit set at 60 km/h (about 40 mph) in the muddy area near Pontoise. To revamp this line, which transports about 260,000 passengers daily, the 200 employees involved in the project relied on special equipment to keep everything on track 😉 From a RM900 ballast cleaner to a P95T high output track renewal train to 12 locomotives, 80 wagons, three tampers and a ballast regulator, our teams had an impressive range of machines they expertly operated. Some key figures: - 6,480 meters (about 7,000 yards) of ballast renewal on one part of the worksite - 3,280 meters (about 3,500 yards) of track and ballast renewal on another part of the worksite - Creation of a central drainage system along 700 meters (about 750 yards) with the installation of a transverse culvert Moreover, in an effort to reduce our environmental impact, teams reused 50% of old ballast for these works. #WeOpenTheWay #ColasDares #CreatingConnections

[We ACT for the planet 🌎] Poll results! Last week, we asked you if you'd like more information about how we reduce our carbon footprint with innovative products, techniques and solutions. Today, we are going to focus on…asphalt mixes! They're all around us; we drive, cycle and ride on them to get where we need to go. But when was the last time you really thought about how they're made? Aggregates, bitumen and sand. That's the traditional recipe. But in the video below, we show you how we go one step further! To reduce the carbon footprint of the materials we use on our worksites, we've put in place several levers at every stage of the process: ✅ Creation of new generations of asphalt mixes that incorporate more bio-based raw materials ✅ Real-time production monitoring for optimized energy consumption ✅ Lower production temperatures to reduce energy consumption ✅ Modernized industrial sites to incorporate more reclaimed asphalt pavement into new formulas From the laboratory to our manufacturing sites to application in the field, dive into Colas' asphalt mix production 👇🎥

[Press Release 📢] Linking up Lyon (France)!   Colas has been chosen, in a consortium with two of our subsidiaries, PERRIER TP and AXIMUM (Groupe COLAS), by SYTRAL Mobilités to build a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line linking Lyon Part-Dieu station to the carrefour des Sept Chemins in Bron!   As the project is located in the heart of the Lyon metropolitan area, the consortium will pay particular attention to reducing and optimizing transport flows. Moreover, in line with its commitment to respecting the environment, the consortium will implement solutions designed to reduce the carbon footprint of its operations, in particular by using clear permeable coatings that use bio-sourced binders.   To learn more, click through the slideshow below and read the press release here 👉https://lnkd.in/eqn2TWA8   #ColasDares #CreatingConnections #WeOpenTheWay

[More than a job 💛] Live from the field, meet Nikola! Over the next few weeks, we will be shining a spotlight on the COLAS Hrvatska team members behind our work on the A11 highway. The project involves building a 10-km (over 6 miles) extension from Zagreb southward to Sisak. This new stretch will help bolster economic development in the region by connecting it to the Croatian capital. First up is Nikola, who joined Colas right after graduating school. Nearly six years later, he’s moved through the ranks to reach his current role of civil engineer! Nikola, who has been involved in the A11 project since its origins about three years ago, says he’s proud of the work he and the teams have completed. “When we first started, it was all fields. Now, it’s a great feeling when you can drive along the highway and see it all done, when you can look back on challenges and laugh because they’ve been overcome.” Click through the below slideshow to learn more about Nikola’s contributions! #ColasDares #CreatingConnections #WeOpenTheWay

This week, Colas attended the Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering Conference and Awards, an event dedicated to promoting gender diversity and celebrating the outstanding contributions made by women, teams, and organisations in the industry. The day was filled with engaging presentations and interactive panels led by thought-leaders in the sector, each sharing valuable insights and experiences. Networking sessions allowed participants to connect and exchange ideas, fostering collaboration and support among peers. Sarah Yates, Senior Bid Writer at Colas, joined the ‘Progressing EDI across the Sector’ session, highlighting the work we’re doing to create more equitable environments for women on our sites and contracts through improved sanitary facilities and opening the conversation around women’s health. As part of the awards ceremony, Colas was highly commended in the 'Excellence in Mental Health and Wellbeing' category for our 'Period Dignity: Ending the Stigma' campaign, which focuses on the importance of normalising conversations about gender-based health disparities, and empowering women to discuss their periods openly in the workplace. #IWCE2024 #ColasCares #ColasShares

[Our own way 🙌] Does something seem unusual to you? In the below photos, you can see an asphalt mix worksite in Fairbanks, Alaska. Team members are wearing their PPE, pavement is being milled and leveled and machines are taking turns applying new surfacing. At first glance, this roadway repair project intended to ensure accessibility and road safety for local communities looks like a classic Colas construction site… except it’s nearly midnight! In Alaska, teams rely on the long hours of sunlight in the summer to carry out as many projects as possible before winter weather halts all construction. In Fairbanks, which is located just below the Arctic Circle, the sun shines for up to 20 hours a day in the summer. Known as the "midnight sun," this phenomenon allows Colas teams to complete "night" construction work under safer conditions, similar to those during the day, with reduced traffic. #ColasDares #WeOpenTheWay #CreatingConnections Colas USA
