Reducing IoT TCO with Battery-Free Energy Harvesting Solutions At last week’s The Things Conference organised by The Things Industries, Roelof Koopmans delivered an insightful keynote on how energy harvesting solutions are transforming IoT deployments by significantly reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). He explained that one of the biggest hurdles for scaling IoT networks has been battery management—the cost of replacements, maintenance, and the environmental impact of disposable batteries. Did you know that 50% of batteries end up as waste? This is clearly unsustainable and can seriously hinder the process continuity businesses need. So, how can we reduce the TCO of our IoT solutions? Roelof shared some eye-opening numbers: 🔋 Batteries and replacements account for 30% of IoT TCO! By switching to organic photovoltaic (OPV) energy harvesting, companies can reduce their TCO by 30%, while ensuring continuous data streams and compliance with evolving EU regulations (which are pushing for battery-free sensors). For example, one enterprise with 50,000 #lorawan sensors deployed across 50 offices is now facing a massive wave of battery replacements just 4 years into their rollout. Imagine the cost of replacing each of those batteries—not to mention the downtime... Dracula Technologies' OPV solutions eliminate this pain point entirely. Whether it's in smart buildings or asset tracking, the benefits are clear: no more batteries, no more disruptions, and significant cost savings. Are you ready to reduce your TCO and go battery-free? Download our white paper to read on: https://shorturl.at/cTS7E Or get in touch with us to learn more about how Dracula Technologies can power your IoT devices sustainably and cost-effectively. #EnergyHarvesting #IoT #Sustainability #SmartBuildings #TCO #BatteryFree #OPV #AmbientIoT #TheThingsConference

Ambient light is omnipresent. Soft and even, It allows us to see a space as a whole. All it takes is a lit lamp. Ambient light is everywhere and always available. It creates a soothing atmosphere that influences our mood and influences the way we feel inside of a space. But, its potential goes far beyond that. Ambient light has the ability to power the electronics that are around us. At Dracula Technologies, we like to make good use of all of ambient light's capabilities. Through LAYER®, ambient light is converted into energy, offering a sustainable energy solution for low-power sensors in smart buildings, smart homes and asset tracking solutions.
