Discover future treatments for periodontitis!   Register now for the launch conference of the Healthy Teeth project: a project which aims at developing more effective treatments to combat periodontitis, a disease responsible for tooth loss. 🦷🧑⚕️   The current standard treatment for periodontitis consists of mechanically eliminating the bacteria. However, it is impossible to eliminate 100% of the germs and the residual bacteria recolonise the periodontal pockets. As a result, the disease persists. To avoid this complication and improve patients' daily lives, the partners of DIAMOND | Interreg FWVL have joined forces to develop an intelligent dressing capable of monitoring wounds in real time and intervening automatically if necessary. Thanks to integrated sensors, the DIAMOND dressing will detect signs of infection and release medication directly into the wound, at the right time. [First partner meeting of the DIAMOND | Interreg FWVL project]   Yesterday, the partners of the DIAMOND project (Diabetic Smart Wound Dressing) met for the 1st time in Mons, in the premises of Materia Nova. Partners took this opportinity to present their organisation and their role in the project.   Then, the day continued with a visit of Multitel and Materia Nova. We discovered their respective expertise in technological innovation and innovative materials which will be extremely useful to develop our smart connected bandage. 🩹🌐   About DIAMOND🔍 The DIAMOND project aims to revolutionise care for diabetic patients by developing smart connected dressings. These devices will help to monitor and treat patients’ wounds more effectively. Nowadays, Diabetes facilitates the development of infected lesions and leads to the development of foot ulcers, the most common, disabling and costly complications of diabetes.
