Nature still feeds us. The challenge is learning how to help it - not exhaust it.   I had the pleasure of attending a roundtable as part of the EIC Scaling Club on food and agtech last week Alexandra (Ali) Morrow & Dr Kaly Chatakondu during the Tech.eu event in London and I wanted to share a few thoughts that stuck with me: 1. Tech isn’t replacing nature — it’s listening to it Arborea’s approach to turning CO₂ and sunlight into food on barren land was one of those “wait, what?” moments. It reminded me that rethinking the system starts by rethinking the inputs. 2. Startups that scale won’t go solo Partnerships with the big players — distribution, infrastructure, credibility — aren’t just optional. Connecting with the right ecosystems is crucial too. That's what we do at EuroQuity - Bpifrance. These partnerships are the shortcut to bypass the "valleys of death" that every founder dreads 3. Europe matters — not just for wine and cheese (though, yes, that too :) The food culture here, the regulatory push, and the way quality is baked into everything create a unique edge. There’s a depth to the European foodtech ecosystem that’s starting to show real power. 4. No one wants to pay a green premium forever Sustainability has to make business sense. Investors aren’t turning away from impact — they just expect a real plan to scale it. 5. Feeding the world means rethinking where and how food gets made.  With fertile land disappearing and climate pressure mounting, the solutions of the next decade won’t just come from the farm — they’ll come from labs, rooftops, deserts, and data. #EICSCALINGCLUB #TechEU #EuroQuity #Arborea #ClayCapital #Foodtech

In the wise words of our fellow panelist, “everyone wants sustainability, but no one wants a green premium”. 🌳 We continue to be bullish on European 🇪🇺 founders solving real market dysfunctions, delivering on real customer demands, and bringing a sustainable, nutritious, and equitable food system to fruition.
