At our latest Data Boot Camp, our participating students had the chance to learn from Florian Arthur (Quantmetry - Part of Capgemini Invent) who shared his expertise on #data science consulting. Florian provided a practical look into turning data projects into real-world solutions, using examples like a voice recognition chatbot for RATP. He highlighted the need to go beyond #model accuracy, focusing on creating products that solve real problems, enhance user experience, and integrate seamlessly into existing operations. Key takeaways from his talk: 🔍 Focus on products, not just models: It’s about solving real problems through complete solutions like chatbots, web apps, and APIs. 🚀 Start small with an MVP: Launch with core features to validate user needs early and iterate based on feedback. 🤝 Engage users and IT from the start: Early alignment ensures smooth integration, while user feedback shapes better products. 📊 Prioritize data quality and monitoring: Adapting to evolving data and user behavior is crucial for long-term success. Thanks to Florian for delivering such valuable insights and to everyone who participated. Our second major data event of the year: the "Hi!ckathon" is coming soon! 👉 If you want to know more and register: https://lnkd.in/ecF49t_k #HiPARISCenter #LLM #DataScience #DataEvents

How can AI’s rapid development be balanced with #ethical responsibility and sustainability? Last night’s Hi! PARIS Meet-up on AI, Ethics, and Regulations explored some of the most pressing issues in the field today. AI’s impact extends beyond #algorithms, influencing social and environmental systems, with significant reliance on energy, resources, and unseen human labor. As the EU #AIAct begins to take effect, one of the critical topics was the environmental footprint of AI. While AI offers immense potential for innovation and climate solutions, its development presents considerable ecological costs that existing regulations do not fully address. The rise of #generativeAI in business was another key focus. Organizations face a fast-moving landscape where the time between research breakthroughs and market applications continues to shrink. This raises challenges around whether to be first movers or fast followers. Additionally, the evolving labor dynamics created by AI such as information asymmetry and moral hazard underscore the need for businesses to balance productivity gains with responsible practices. The real question now is: how can we best manage this fast-paced, unpredictable race in a way that allows for optimal outcomes? And what other challenges and opportunities await as #AI continues to evolve? Stay tuned for our next meet-up, where we’ll explore these topics further and keep the conversation going on AI, ethics, and regulations. A huge thank you to Tiphaine Viard (Télécom Paris), Thomas Le Goff, PhD (Télécom Paris), and David Restrepo Amariles (HEC Paris) for their insightful presentations, to Philippe Rambach (Chief AI Officer at Schneider Electric) for opening the event, to Anne Laure Sellier (HEC Paris) for expertly moderating, to Schneider Electric, our corporate donor, for hosting the event, and to our PhD students Ali Keshavarzi and Teodor Duevski for showcasing their research.
