ANNIVERSARY 🎂 – Located in Tainan, Taiwan, Jiali has been installed in November 2020. This project was installed on an irrigation pond, and this FPV plant counts 3194 modules. Jiali is anchored with hybrid anchoring system on the banks of the reservoir.   🌱 We are glad to share that this project can compensate the energy consumption of 320 households each year. Moreover, Jiali project not only avoids the evaporation of the equivalent of 2.5 Olympic-sized pools a year, but also prevents the emission of 890 tons of CO2.   👷 With a capacity of 1251 kWp, this project has been developed by Laketricity. 📰 WE HAVE HEARD - "Coal generation in OECD countries falls below half of its peak" 📉 Coal generation in OECD countries has now dropped to less than half of its peak level from 15 years ago according to Ember, signaling major progress in the shift toward clean energy. While this decline is encouraging, there’s a clear need to speed up the transition. Phasing out coal is crucial, not only because it’s the biggest contributor to global CO2 emissions, but because clean alternatives like floating solar are ready to step in. 🌞 Moving away from coal offers immediate benefits: reducing harmful emissions, mitigating climate change and making room for sustainable alternatives such as floating solar. The “third pillar of solar” is particularly promising, as it utilizes underused water surfaces, avoiding land competition while offering efficient, scalable energy production and preserving precious lands. 🌎 By accelerating the coal phase-out and investing in innovations like floating solar, we can build a resilient energy system that’s cleaner, more sustainable, and capable of powering our future. As solar becomes more widely deployed, particularly on water bodies, it’s clear that renewables can outpace coal far quicker than previously thought. In short, as the UK closes its last coal-fired power station, almost all OECD countries are making good progress in phasing out this energy source, replaced mainly by solar and wind power. Saiko Ike is anchored with marine anchors at the bottom of the pond. Like all our projects in Japan, they are located in a typhoon-prone area and face sometimes extreme weather conditions, but maintain optimum efficiency over time. 🌱 We are happy to share that this project can compensate the energy consumption of 712 households each year and save 760 tons of CO2. 👷 With a capacity of 1,860 kWp, this project has been developed by Laketricity. Our scope for this project included: Project Development, Project Engineering, Procurement & Construction, Asset Management and Operation & Maintenance. NEWS FROM ITALY 🆕 🌞 Laketricity Italy currently has a total of 23 floating solar projects under development across the country. ✅ For all these artificial water ponds, a preliminary site control agreement has been signed with the owners, and a grid connection offer has been requested or received. For some of these projects, environmental impact studies have already been carried out and are under evaluation of the local authorities. 📍 Where is the development capacity located? We develop projects in various regions including Sicily, but mainly in northern Italy : Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Piemonte, Veneto, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany.
