[AGROMET PROJECT - Paraguay] 👨🏻🌾 For almost 2 years, we have been collaborating with the 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗮𝘆 to develop a national service capacity in the field of agrometeorological advisories. The objective is to provide better weather based decision-making information to small family farming producers from the Eastern region of Paraguay in order for them to : - better manage their activities in the fields 🚜 - anticipate weather conditions that could impact their daily activities ⛈️ - increase their revenues 💰 🫱🏼🫲🏼This ambitious project, part of the wider 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗙𝗜 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 ("𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘺𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘫𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘦 𝘭𝘢 𝘢𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘳 𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘢 𝘦𝘯 𝘭𝘰𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘥𝘦 𝘭𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘰́𝘯 𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭") is carried out in collaboration with Paraguay’s National Hydromet Service (𝗗𝗠𝗛 - 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗼́𝗻 𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶́𝗮 𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶́𝗮) that will host and administrate the solution provided by MFI. It is centered on users' needs and has therefore been designed based on a strong co-construction and co-engagement approach. ✅ MFI’s solution is composed of 3 components: 𝗢𝗕𝗦𝗠𝗘𝗧 Data Collection System, 𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗬𝗦 Climate Data Management System, and 𝗠𝗘𝗧𝗘𝗢𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬 Production System for Public Weather Service and Early Warning. The 3 systems have been installed at DMH headquarters, and final Site Acceptance Tests are currently being carried out. They will be completed by early November. At the same time, training sessions (system-oriented, but also about climatology) are being organized in order for staff of the DMH and Ministry of Agriculture to have full control of the solution delivered by MFI. ⛅ Agriculture is amongst the most weather-sensitive activities, and it requires tailored technical solutions that MFI is proud to deliver. It also demands special attention for the so-called “𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘦” component and that is what we are still working on with the DMH: establishing the communication workflow from meteorologists to the 100 rural representatives in charge of reaching out to 14000 farmers across the Eastern region of Paraguay. The ultimate objective is to ensure that all the information provided is perfectly understood, sent at the right time, and that it allows farmers to make better decisions for the management of their daily activities. 🌱 Lastly, the project also includes a yearly feedback loop to continuously improve the implemented process, season after season. [AGRO-CLIMATE PROJECT – Argentina]   👨🏻🌾 MFI is currently in the final stages of the project carried out on behalf of the Argentinian Ministry of Agriculture (MaGyP), in collaboration with the country's national weather service, Servicio Meteorológico Nacional -Argentina-. The objective of this collaboration is to provide Argentina with an efficient agro-climate monitoring solution that will allow MaGyP to optimize management of agricultural activities across the country.   🌱The solution provided by MFI and operated by the National Met Service is composed of 2 main systems: 𝗢𝗕𝗦𝗠𝗘𝗧 Data Collection System, and 𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗬𝗦 Climate Data Management System. The solution has been designed to improve the quality and the quantity of observation data collected through heterogeneous networks of weather stations, and to allow a consolidated countrywide view for better knowledge of climate trends in Argentina. MFI is also in charge of delivering an extranet for MaGyP’s staff, displaying specialized climate and met information for better decision-making in the field of agriculture.   ✅ Last week, our teams successfully passed the Site Acceptance Tests for CLISYS system and for the extranet, OBSMET having passed this milestone a few months ago. Our CLISYS experts also gave a 7-day training session to SMN’s staff on how to administrate and use the system.   🎯So what is next? The solution is scheduled to switch to full operational mode by the end of the year. [PARTNERSHIP & COLLABORATION - Cambodia] 📅 Last April, we had the pleasure to welcome, in collaboration with our partner Sterela, a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (Cambodia) - MoWRaM to start drawing the outlines on an ambitious and sustainable modernization project for the national meteorological Cambodian department. The pleasure was renewed this week with a new visit from a delegation led by the Secretary of State of the MoWRaM, 𝗛.𝗘. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗵. ✒️ We are proud to announce that the 3-day visit culminated in the signing of a 𝗟𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 between 𝗠𝗼𝗪𝗥𝗮𝗠, 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮 and 𝗠𝗙𝗜. The partnership described in the document outlines a strategic collaboration to modernize Cambodia’s meteorological services and improve early warning systems for extreme weather conditions, supporting national resilience against climate change. 📝 As part of this agreement, Sterela METEO will provide a complete range of meteorological and hydrological observation equipment, ensuring that Cambodia has the best tools available for weather monitoring and early detection of extreme climate events. 𝗠𝗙𝗜 will deliver a complete and integrated Information System (forecasting, warning, climate services, etc.) as well as an exhaustive capacity building and transfer of know-how program for more overall efficiency and sustainability. The modernization program will also pave the way to full compliance with the United Nations 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘼𝙡𝙡 initiative (#EW4All), to tailored services to Aviation, Marine, Defense and Agriculture. 🛣️ We are looking forward to continuing to bring this ambitious project to fruition, convinced that it will bring many benefits to Cambodia, including better protection of its population and improved support to all weather-sensitive activities. [VIGICLIMM PROJECT – CÔTE D’IVOIRE] 🛣️ Another significant milestone reached for the project we are currently carrying out for the benefit of the Meteorological Department (DMN) of SODEXAM Côte d'Ivoire: we have just passed the first successful Site Acceptance Tests of the project! These tests concerned the first batch of 10 synoptic observation stations provided by our partner Sterela METEO. For reminder, in total, the project financed by AFD - Agence Française de Développement, includes the implementation of 27 stations across the country to drastically strengthen DMN’s capacity to collect high-quality observation data. A crucial component to efficiently power the data processing systems that MFI will be implementing in the coming months to enhance DMN’s service capacity in the fields of forecasting, climate services and early warning. ✅ The Site Acceptance Tests were carried out in the presence of Mr. nabil nouni, an expert appointed by the World Meteorological Organization to validate the conformity of all equipment provided within the VIGICLIMM Project. Everything went smoothly and our teams are already looking forward the installation of another 10-station batch in November!
