Over coffee, our team reflected on Google AI’s recent breakthrough in quantum error correction (QEC), and it’s clear—despite the progress, many crucial questions remain unanswered: 🤔 What are the best QEC codes for each type of hardware? 🤔 How does QEC perform under realistic noise conditions? 🤔 How do we scale and improve logical performance? We’re convinced that powerful simulators like MIMIQ can help answer these questions. With tensor network techniques such as matrix product states (MPS), we can go beyond the limitations of Clifford simulators to study realistic noise and fault-tolerant algorithms.
