Relais & Châteaux welcomes two new members These properties reach from northern to southern Europe, from Sweden to Italy. Each has its own personal style and spirit, yet both share the values that all members of the collection promote and practice: a deep understanding of genuine hospitality founded on strongly rooted local presence. At this year’s PURE Life Experiences, the world’s leading event for the experiential travel community, Relais & Châteaux was represented by 48 of our member properties. Hosted in the vibrant city of Marrakech, this annual gathering brought together the best in luxury travel. In our dedicated section, 18 member properties were showcased alongside a coffee and gastronomy bar, with daily culinary presentations from the chefs of Palais Ronsard, Heure Bleue Palais, and Hotel Le Doge, celebrating the richness of Moroccan cuisine. Tuesday saw a special cocktail and tour at Palais Ronsard, followed by a networking cocktail dinner at Villa des Orangers Marrakech on Wednesday. Relais & Châteaux members also gathered with buyers from the USA, UK, Australia, Germany, France, Mexico, and Paraguay gathered to enjoy an evening enhanced by wines from our partner Château Roslane Boutique Hotel & Spa - Relais & Châteaux and champagne from Champagne Taittinger. Figure incontestée du paysage de la gastronomie française et mondiale, fondateur de « La Nouvelle Cuisine », Michel Guérard, qui officiait dans son établissement les Prés d’Eugénie, triplement étoilé depuis 1977, nous a quittés. Modèle pour toute une génération, chef de file d’un hôtel-restaurant unanimement reconnu, chef de famille et mentor, hôte ô combien joyeux, vif, brillant et attentionné, Michel Guérard avait aussi à cœur de donner son temps, animé par son sens du partage et de la transmission. Avant-gardiste et visionnaire, sa gastronomie d’excellence, empreinte de modernité et de légèreté dans l’assiette, n'a eu de cesse d’être citée en référence. Membre de Relais & Châteaux depuis 1966, les Près d’Eugénie est l’une des figures de proue de l’association. Demeure empreinte de poésie, de raffinement, et de perfection à la campagne, aux confins des Landes et du Béarn, cette maison de famille invite au bonheur. Avec son épouse Christine, malheureusement disparue en 2017, et ses deux filles, Eléonore et Adeline, Michel orchestrait et soupoudrait d’âme ce lieu chargé d’histoire(s). Il sut également s’engager, en précurseur, pour un « luxe » éthique et collaboratif avec ses hôtes, ses collaborateurs et ses fournisseurs, toujours en quête d’un rapport direct à la nature et aux autres. L’ensemble des équipes et des membres de Relais & Châteaux est aujourd’hui en deuil. C’est avec une profonde tristesse que nous perdons avant tout un ami. Un être cher qui savait nous régaler les papilles bien sûr, mais aussi l’esprit, par sa vive et rare intelligence. Son œil malicieux et son sourire franc nous réjouissaient. Sa gaîté se propageait.
