🌊 Happy Global Hydropower Day! 🌊 We are thrilled to announce the completion of the LOLABAT project, a new milestone towards supporting the growing need for flexibility in hydropower assets! 🚀   As the backbone of our energy system, #Hydropower faces new challenges due to the intermittent behaviour of energy demands on the grid 🥶 ➡️By hybridising hydropower plants with batteries, we can drastically enhance energy management, improving both competitiveness & operations.   In this project, we focused on developing a new generation of battery: the Rechargeable Nickel Zinc Battery (RNZB) by Sunergy, which revitalised interest in Nickel Zinc technology! 🔋✨   👨🏻🔬Using our HydroPHIL platform, which consists of a turbine with real time control and a pump for dam emulation, SuperGrid Institute’s team, together with the Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives & EDP Renewables tested the RNZB prototype and modified the control to add an Energy Management System. OPHELIA, c'est un projet dédié au développement du #solaire sur des terrains linéaires, déjà occupés par des infrastructures (routes, pistes cyclables, digues, voies ferrées...).
